Marathon mistake: 12-year-old accidentally runs half marathon instead of 5K

Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

    I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

That was a complete fukkin debacle. I still claim the mother was an idiot for just dropping her daughter off.

Oh to be young and in the kind of shape where it's possible to "accidentally" run a half marathon.

And then she went for a hike later in the day!

I had a difficult time getting off my couch...

Yeah, the weekend long runs are what will really be the killer. I did Jeff Galloway's half marathon plan with a time goal this winter, and it had me up to 17 miles a couple weeks ago. It took me 3 hours. Marathon training is going to take me to 20+; well over 4 hours. I need my boys to be a little older so they don't drive my wife nuts while I'm gone every weekend.

I've done it. Unfortunately, a 3 hour run is just too long for them to be strapped down.

                    • Look out Boston here I come; today I ran a Boston Marathon qualifying time.

                        • I've never really thought about the math before. I've just heard people talk about total times. Seeing it laid out as a sub 8 minute/mile average makes it damned impressive to my "not very serious runner" self. Nice job Alistair.

Yeah, when it's a push for me to run a 7 minute mile, for a mile, I know that I still have a ways to go. Even 8:00 is tough for much farther than a 5k at this point.

                              • You're making me feel better. I went for a run last year and wasn't sure why I felt awful for most of it. When I finished I saw Strava had recorded a new personal best 8:16 mile time.

The easy winter led to me getting to the gym more often this year. Maybe I'll be able to go sub 8:00 for a mile this summer. It won't be a long run though.
