    You know camper4lyfe,

I am very Happy for you that your getting back in to what you love to do,I also wish you luck on getting in to the Boston marathon this would be something you could always look back at saying you had the opportunity to enter in such a classic event....

Now as for me I really never ran when I was younger, the most running I ever did if you want to call it running was playing sports in school,I played a few sports such as Hockey,Baseball and some Basketball that was the most I have ever done for running, the other thing I use to do even though it was not running around but required a lot of leg and body movement, that was down hill skiing which I had a blast to do..

Now as far a my favorite sport I like playing it was playing hockey on Lake Champlain and also at the civic center here where I live, the only down side of playing on the lake and civic center is a required 2 different pair of skates..

Well those days are long gone now for me,I really miss the days when I could do some of these sports I liked doing..
I could probably could get away with a 52 inch shaft but if I could get a 54 inch shaft that would be great as I could always adjust the length of the shaft

Ultimately, I just like to run. There will be improvement based simply on that, but I'm competitive enough that I'm not ok with just a little improvement, so I'll be doing other training along with my usual running to try to increase both speed and distance.

I played sports in high school, and even ran track, but hate every minute of track season. I hated simply running. If I was playing a sport at the time, I didn't care, and actually enjoyed it, but to get out on the track or the road and just run...forget it.

Something clicked at the end of 2013, and I decided that while my wife was taking our son to swim lessons, I'd walk/run around the indoor track that was in the same building as the pool. I started to enjoy it, and once the weather cleared up, I ran outside. I ran 4 5k races last year, and I'm signed up for several races already this year; 2 half marathons, 1 3.5 mile, a 5k, 2 10k's, a 3.8 mile trail race, and an 18.12 mile race. I also am looking at another 5k/10k, and another half marathon. My biggest limiting factor right now is the money to pay for them all.

I love to run now, and the races are fun for me, a little motivation to keep me focused and getting out the door, and they're a nice benchmark to see how much (or little) I've improved.

Yup. I'm doing it. I'm hoping for 30 minutes or less.

Well, I did it! My first half marathon is in the books. Finished with a chip time of 2:16:10. Gun time of 2:17:17, placing me at #1514 of 2294. Considering I only had 6 weeks to train, I'm really happy with this.

Just completed the Via Marathon, in Allentown PA area, with a time of 3hrs 32min 49sec - 8minutes quicker than my previous best time, but missed qualifying for the Boston Marathon by just under 3 minutes.

                      Damn! Good job!

I'm at least 2 years, if not 3, away from running a marathon. I just don't have the time to dedicate to the training.

Damn nice time Alistair!! I know you said you missed Boston by three minutes, but that doesn't take away from the fact that your time is impressive. Nice run bro!

I spent last weekend running (a lot) at the Runner's World Festival in Bethlehem, PA. I just finished a big write up on it in my running blog.

Hah, like I said a couple comments ago, I'm still a couple years out from that. My kids are too little to be able to commit the time needed to do it.

I WILL get there someday, though.
