@Flash: I've always wanted to climb Mnt Washington. It's on my bucket list!

@Alistair: The elevation gains on this course were quick in some areas. After about 20 miles in and I believe 800 already up, we did 400' in less than one mile. Then, over four miles we ascended another 500' vertical feet to Castle Point (which is the area where I broke my foot). The next 20 miles were descending 2,000'.

From the Rock the Ridge website, it states a cumulative elevation gain of 7,457ft.... Cumulative elevation loss of 7,458ft and max elevation of 2,185'. So, lots of ups and downs throughout the whole course add up for sure.

That's awesome, congrats! Sorry about the foot but it kinda gives you some bragging rights for the grand kids one day, LOL! Very impressive.

I thought my son broke my little toe on the boat this past weekend. Put some tape on it. Next morning it was purple and kinda sideways, LOL. More tape and out on the boat. My friend asked me what happened to the toe and I spiced up the story a bit. Later on saw these massive scars in his lower leg right above the heal. Car accident. He couldn't walk for almost three years, still can't feel anything in the front has some movement in the back and needs lift shoes. He also lost a lung and half of his liver in the accident. Well, so much for my toe! And now this...

Oh, and it turns out I don't think the toe is actually broken, just bruised a bit. After a few days it's almost back to normal, ha, ha!

If you plan to climb Mt Washington, I recommend that you climb the whole Presidential Range. This a tough, but do able day hike.

we will need a separate class for my wife and for my girlfriend.

Well done! And on a broken foot, to boot!

I can't imagine doing that race at the pace of the winning time. Basically double that of a marathon, and at about the same pace that I could barely complete the marathon.

I've hiked the Presidential range, ran the Mt. Washington road race, done a few marathons, and did a few bicycle trips in Canada. At my age, I'm satisfied with that. No ultra marathons for me, thanks!

That is a NICE looking bunch of meat!

I can still find a use for my thumb, even though it no longer has a hole to finger.

I could have been enjoying his nuts.

@C: Sorry about your toe but glad it wasn't busted. Honestly, that's all you do with broken toes anyway; tape'em and forget'em.

@Alistair: that's a pretty cool pic of the mountains with the names like that. I saved it to show the wife.

@ POP: Thanks man, that's very impressive too that you've done all of that!

Honestly, I started this thread to do exactly this.... To see who else is in to this type of thing. Crazy how we are all strangers but we all come together on so many topics and mutual activities. Love it!

An ultra is no joke, especially with a broken foot. An ultra is definitely on my bucket list, but I still have to finish a regular marathon first (2018 is the current plan for that).

I'm pacing a friend for her last lap of the Finger Lakes 50 at the beginning of July. That'll be the longest trail run I've done. It should be interesting. ON the plus side, it's fairly flat with only 1300' of gain over 17 miles.

My kids are too little to be able to dedicate the time for the training. My wife was at her wit's end as it was at the end of my half marathon training this past Spring. The 3 hour 17 mile run about pushed her over the edge. And she only had to deal with one long run a week. The rest of my runs I did during my lunch at work.

Amazing accomplishment Buell! I'm keeping hopes that I can do something like this some day. First I need to find a way to ease the nerve pain in my left foot. When the nerve pain flares every single step is painful. You are probably familiar with that feeling after your last adventure.

Thanks LoD! During training my arches actually collapsed and I was getting some pretty intense nerve pain. So, long story short went to local podiatrist and got orthotics. Instant relief. Thankfully I met him a few months ago because that is exactly who I called Monday after the race lol.
