OK if we're playing Katrina .......... Ar15 , and whatever pistol I have most ammo for at the time along with water and food essentials. Most importantly though my HF Radio since this is merely a disaster area I will use it to call in rescue since it doesn't need any infrastructure.

Other option too would be to link up with members in this area on high ground and facilitate rescues using my HF Radio and uhf and vhf radios assuming I had enough supplies and in a safe enough area.

as happened in Katrina and other disaster locations, firearm confiscation would also be a concern based on actual past precedent.

So how much of each are you thinking would be good "for a few months"? This is my quandary, my definition of enough ammo in those calibers "for a few months" would certainly weigh too much for me to be carrying around with me hence the thought of going with 22lr.

I do like stinkypinky's idea of the 22lr conversion kit. One could carry an AR and a 1911 with a small amount of centerfire ammo for each, conversion kits, and a larger amount of 22 rimfire ammo for use 98% of the time.

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

I would like to think that everybody learned some lessons there and that if the gubment were dumb enough to attempt that again, the people would be smart enough this time around to vehemently defend the possession of their self-defense firearms. Perhaps not so much in individual shoot-outs with LE but more of a Bundy Ranch style resistance where officials would be looking at large groups of armed resistance.
