  • Getting fit take 2!

As some of you know at the other place I started p90x . I got within a few weeks of completion and got sick so I took a few days off and never finished . Since then I have let myself go... Or should I say grow lol.

Anyways big reason I failed before what that the workouts were and hour long and I worked rotating 12's so it was tough to fit it in . I'm finally going to give P90x3 a try which are around 30 minutes long .

Hoping to compete this round, was really healthy last time around dropping cholesterol by around 100!

Hopefully I can finally make a lifestyle change instead of temporary changes.

Anyone else try P90x3 yet or other programs?

my wife and i are doing some 30 minute workout thing now. no idea what it's called, it's her deal really. but the instructor on the dvd's is a 10 so that's good enough for me! seems to be working great. we plan to keep doing it every day until labor day. at least with us both doing it there is more motivation, we'll see

yep, just looked it up and it's definitely Autumn Calabrese. they pack a lot into 30 minutes. no moves are in isolation and my heart rate is up the whole time.

Sorry, those programs are a bit ghay. LOL ..
Come walking in the woods with me. I re-started in the spring. Also bike and swimming. I am doing the 1K in the pool to loose up but the hardest are the deep incline walks (20-40lbs backpack).
The goal is to walk to Lockport next month. We leave at 5AM and want to hit there around 11pm. Good deal to test your BOB and skills. Just got some new shoes which I love. they make a huge
          difference!

How far is that? Are your camping and walking back next day? Kind of cheating if you drive back

It is a 50 Mile walk. One day is plenty trust me. Maybe the week after we can do something else like a 2 way trip but on the mountain bikes that is 100 Mile. Also carrying the BOB.

I walk to the crapper, but sometimes I have to run, well it's really not running, more like a fast shuffle squeezing your butt cheeks together and all, but if you don't make it it could be running down your leg. Now that WILL motivate you.
Just kidding, think about weight loss and toning as an investment, your in it for the long haul, smaller portions, basic exercise on a routine, fit in some bike riding, skip the elevators and escalators if possible. The little things do make a difference, walk off road and hills if possible, you'd be suprised the difference uneven terrain makes epically if you do outdoor activities with or without the family.
Good luck, all this thumb exercise makes me tired, I don't know how these kids do it!
I must say I love beavers.

I've been swimming six days every week. 1.5 miles each session. Getting it done in about :54 minutes. Dropped 38 lbs since February.

It's amazing what you can accomplish when a doctor tells you do or die.

Awesome!. yes I agree there is no better motivation than avoiding sickness and death.

My dad (84 now) swims 1K every morning.
He also goes for what he calls little walks that many times is 10 miles in the afternoon.
He said he has slowed down a lot. LOL.

Everyone is into running that is great to an extent but what I find about the swimming is that
my back feels so much better.
So instead of the trend that is running, swimming and perhaps biking I am doing walking (fast)
biking and swimming and all the joints feel so much better.
I also do a lot of stretching and yoga ...well some sort of yoga for seniors my wife coaches LOL.
I still have a long way to be where I need to be at my age but I think consistency is more
important than instant results. It has been always that way anyway.

Mek, sounds like you and your dad both are cut from the same mold. Same with me and my dad. He's 83 and still plays a round of golf every Saturday. Swims at least 3-4 times per week.

I've got two spinal fusions. Running, skiing, tennis, basketball, even hiking are all too much compression on my spine. I've always been a swimmer, fortunately, because that's all I can really do nowadays. It's the only place on the planet that my back doesn't scream and yell at me. Hence, my 6 days a week trek to a pool. In order to accomplish 6 days, I have to travel to 3 different pools in the county. A bit of a headache, but there really is no alternative. I've met a great group of people at each pool, so that makes it more enjoyable.

                            Yoga is no joke!

I also really need to lower cholesterol, my liver does not like it being so high lol. Any good tips to easily lower it alot quickly?

The biggest problem I had was the headaches. Those would leave me sometimes w/o energy and put me out of the game all day. now they are better. I think the swimming and the hanging bar are the best for the neck and back. All decompression therapy as you indicated.
