Discard the the other thread, here are the details (xpost from nyf.com):
DATE: FRIDAY AUGUST 7th @5pm till Monday AUGUST 10th MORNING
WHERE: 3949 State RT 34B, Scipio NY 13147 (see picture below for specific location as this address is across the road from the farm land we are camping on)
WHO: Anyone 18+ who belongs to either NYF.com or NYShens.com (18+ by request from other members)
FAQS:
1. Campers? Yes, just go slow we should be ok to have one or 2 of these if you want to bring a camper.
2. Tannerite? No, I asked they are uncomfortable with that. Might be possible in the future, but since this is the first time it's a no.
3. Hammock friendly? Yes very hammock friendly.
4. Tent friendly? Of course.
5. Bugs? Yeah, plan for this there is a stream nearby and the mosquitos are out in force right now.
6. Toilet? No, you are either squatin in the woods or you are welcome to bring a lugable loo or I suppose if you wanted to you could drive 20 mins into Auburn to use a public one lol.
7. Can you bring guns? Yes absolutely bring whatever you want that is legal in NYS.
8. Clays? Yep if you want.
9. Long range? Depends if the field has been cut or not, min 100 yards though. If the field is cut, quite a bit further.
10. Steel targets? Yup, but whatever you shoot needs to be carried out with you. Brass bigger than 22lr needs to be pickup up as well.
11. Tables? No, there are none. You can bring one or we can try to share what people bring. I will have 2 folding tables and a screened in tent thingy.
12. Bring my dog? Yep, your responsibility though.
13. Beer? Yep, just don't become a problem.
14. Chainsaws? Yes, deadfall only.
15. Sleep in your truck? Of course.
16. How remote is it? Well not very, you will have cell service and we are less than a mile off of 34B.
17. Will we be disturbed? Well we are camping behind a farm, farmers start work pretty early. If they are cutting the field we could be awakened to the sound of harvesters or other farm machinery if it is harvest time.
18. Are there shooting benches? No there is nothing to help you shoot, bring whatever you need to make your shooting experience enjoyable (paper targets, rests, tables etc...)
RULES (these are pretty common sense, but I'll go ahead and post it so there is no question of what is expected):
1. This is 18+ only by member request.
2. We are welcome to shoot right were we are camping, bring any firearm you like. There is room for trap shooting as well if you have stuff for that. Should be good out to at least 300 yards. NO SHOOTING IN THE DIRECTION OF THE BARN/34B EVER PERIOD OR ANY OTHER VISIBLE STRUCTURE.
3. Shooting needs to be restricted to the hours of 10am-7pm. This is out of respect for my family. Usually this is camp fire hang out time anyhow in the evening.
4. Drink if you want and as much as you want, just don't become a problem.
5. Clean up after yourself, if it wasn't there when you arrived it needs to be gone when you leave. Of course I will be cleaning up after the group but don't make this a difficult task for me and my little car. I don't care about 22 casings, but anything else also needs to be picked up.
6. You can bring any target you like including steel targets. They just have to be gone when we are done. This is not a range though, there are no target holders or benches. Bring anything you need to make your shooting enjoyable.
7. There are no pick nick tables or chairs or tables. I will be bringing a folding camp table and a chair to use for myself and I am willing to share the space on the table but please plan according to your needs.
8. If you wouldn't want it done to you, don't do it to your fellow campers.
9. Please be courteous if any of my family comes up to say hello. My grandfather and 2 of my uncles work the farm (granfathers name is Nelson, uncles are Tim and Dan). Please thank them for letting us do this if they do come up to say hello (and being farmers, they probably will).
10. If you have a chainsaw, by all means bring it if you like. Please only cut deadfall for burning.
11. There are no facilities or toilets available. Plan for that as well.
12. 4 legged companions are also welcome.
Pretty much guys, if we do this and like the experience and don't become a problem we are likely to be able to do it again. So pretty much fallow common sense here.
