I said this many times before. Specialize in something. Even if you are not interested do specialize and give the image and consistency as if you liked it. Imvest time in value content. Move the hangouts idea to the background. Use social media to bring interest. It takes a lot of work but dont even try unless you change names and direction.
To bring the horse tok the water you need to be smart and nimble. What ones preferences are do not matter that much when it comes to make something work.

I still a lot could be learned from theChive. though we wouldn't want to mirror them there are a lot of similarities between what they are and what I could want with this group. yet they work, and they are popular across the country. this site is not going to specialize in anything imho that is going to be a draw. i think it needs to be something other than just another forum. if we stay just another forum but make some small changes, we could maybe double our membership in the next year. that's nothing and it's not going to cut it.

they are very charitable as cgrutt has proven to be.
they don't scare away the ladies with creepiness although they have a ton of content involving them scantily clad.
like this bunch, they like guns, patriotism, beards, beer, sex and booze.
they are great at selling crap with their catchy logos, catch-lines, etc on them which does double duty.
they have a great app, so access to their content through phones, etc is on point. i refuse to go on this site on my phone. it may be better now but i gave up.
like was said, we need to be across different platforms and social medias in someway or another.
the chive doesn't have solid reference type content, which we could have (theoretically anyway). but since we have more of a forum backbone we could have more contributors than a small staff.
they aren't into the pranking & sarcasm that makes this place what it is. that we could bring to a higher level. enhance our assets here imho and celebrate them. i wouldn't lose the mayhem and mischief, I would promote it even further and even exploit it. make that part of the draw.

Yeah if you want to greatly increase membership, activity and get in bigger sponsorship your gonna have to make some changes IMHO

I personally like the forum the way it is. I come for the guns but stay for the shoot the chit section, If i wasn't so broke id be posting allot more in the guns section, I just cant afford any new projects yet. I also think with Hunting season upon us and the holiday season coming people are just not going to be online so much. The larger you get your also going to have do more policing and moderation and have to start dropping ban hammers and then it turns into the other place and will be less fun for your core guys. Its a balance, while the other place gets sponcers and traffic it also breeds trolls and makes it less fun to hang out. With sponcers comes increased moderation and censorship.

We still have penalty box lol, would like to see more people and posts. By no means do we expect to be huge but would love to quadruple our active members sooner rather then later .
