I also think its good for those who happen to make it to the range every week. Just saying...
Range time is good and fun but self defense is a whole new ball game from what I've read. The fact CG says they make you shoot under stress is enough for me to want to take a course or two.
I could be wrong...it's happened before and it'll happen again.

Most ranges that I know of don't allow you to practice tactical drills unless you're doing it as part of class or in some cases competition.

Over the years I've given a lot of thought about using a firearm for self defense, how would I react (fight or flight) and the implication of possibly taking another human's life. Some friends of mine from high school that served in Iraq and were in firefights gave me some good insight. They said, your adrenaline kicks in along with training and things become automated. It's only afterwards that it sinks in you were being shot at and could have died. Good enough for me to want training regardless of permit or no permit.

Heck, even in free states if you're not careful a self defense situation can turn into a manslaughter (or worse) charge on YOU!

Muscle memory..like driving to work..all of a sudden your there..repetition repetition repetition..and I would have to venture a guess to say, the adrenaline kick and automated "training" during real life situation for them, came from the training with their firearms constantly until it's embedded in the brain. Not from a one or two times classroom 6 hours 2 hours at a range type of training..something that your brain will do once you keep practicing with your firearms. Even if you go in your basement with your Moss 500, some blank practice shells and drill and drill and drill yourself with loading, engaging, reloading moving and loading etc..if you need have your wife come down and scare the piss out of you from dark corners or different areas or have a third person flicker the lights for that"power surge" training..to get that "tactical training" part instilled in your mind. You'll be training yourself and conditioning your mind more then anyway possible. I can understand taking one class but more then one or the same one again on same subject..meh. I would prefer the 250$ going towards ammo for real training..

..now of course if and when that terrible moment comes, we still don't know how our bodies will react but nobody does..

One thing to my advantage is people joke I can hear a piece of paper hit the floor from a block away. I know every sound the house makes and when I hear something out of the norm I perk up to find out what's going on. For example, at the BBQ I heard you say you worked for WKIP or some other local radio station at some point while I was at the grill. The call letters caught my name since I worked in TV/radio and it's not often I come across someone who has worked in a live broadcast environment (talk about stress, lol).

Yup, it was WPDH/101.5 WRRV/96.9 and Radio Disney. (I think WKIP was an 80s TV show I'm jus playin, that was WKARP in Cincinatti lol) but yea multiple years and yes mighty stressful deadline/AD writing timeframes..(but still fun when I hear one of my commercials be it a goofy stupid one or a serious one run while I'm driving) the best part about that career was getting all the promotional stuff, concert tickets and meeting rockstar peeps, like Trump and Howard Stern

                        Agreed 100%. ^^^^

There are those who like to say "practice makes perfect", I say that's bullPeshitta. Only "perfect practice makes perfect". The key is for someone in the know to show you the correct way to do things, and then to get out and commit that technique to muscle memory. Too many people go the range and practice practice practice all day, but are practicing all the wrong ways.

And is exactly why I believe retaking the same class is important as a "tune up".
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

                          I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

Very much agreed. Redundancy is good and you can never have too much training.

You can always take a trip out to Sig Sauer Academy in NH(my personal favorite) or Academi in CT. Worth the trip IMO.
