Ok, after doing a Peshitta ton of reading, I'm going back on what I said, and am more than likely buying a Stoeger M3000 either form MOA Precision or buyingone else where and having them work on it. I havn't read anythign bad about these guns other than the fit and finish isn't a Benelli, but it's also a fraction of the price. They run and last. Patrick Kelly is running one on the 3 gun circuit.

Keep in mind evil, these guys are sponsored to run these guns and will get replacements as needed. I tried running a jmp and it just wasnt reliable enough for me. I dont know much about the new stoeger sa sg's so maybe they are decent.
Masterswimmer, you are welcome to try my benelli m2 if you want.. although, a heavier gun will have less felt tecoil... im a big fan of the remington versamax.
As for a decent o/u that wont break the bank, i really like the new ruger red labels, my second choice would be a franchi instinct l (although its a little light for a sporting gun, its a better field gun).

Do you also have the Versamax? Which one has less felt recoil?

there are shotguns that for modest cost they produce high reliability but even the very expensive ones need maintenace at some point. A friend just sent a kriefof for work after 2 million rounds or so.
I would stay away from el cheapo deals on stoegers, franchi, silver reserve made in turkey and such. But once you hit the 2 to 3 thosand dollars you have guns like some berettas, browning, etc.. that are built for competition with trunios, barrels and internals to last a life time. there are still a few in the low 1 thosands that are good workhorses wo being too fancy. Sarrasqueta, and lanber from spain and fausti from italy. But some of these are dessapearing fast being bought by large conglomerates that want to use their names but make cheaper and better looking shotguns to apease the gartner and dicks type of mass market so they will retool and will not be making the shotguns like their granpas did, many original family business Expert gunsmiths. It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance
