  • Difference between Sporting Shotguns ?

So I don't derail the M4 thread anymore I was wondering what the difference is between the different sporting guns? I see you can spend up to 10's of thousands of dollars on them. Are they more reliable or accurate or is it just that they look prettier and are made by hand?

Is there a real appeal to the higher end ones besides looks?

Just trying to figure it out so please don't convince me I need a 12k shotgun LOL.

Am I short stroking or going to fast?

well, are ya gonna shoot it, or look at it ..??
I really do not see a lot of improvement over the $2500 mark.. just more fancy wood/engraving
I'd love a Perazzi, basically as a work of art, but could never justify using anything that expensive in the field

SG's by their very nature take a beating just being fired. Now, get involved heavily in clays and suddenly your running thousands (if not tens of thousands) of rounds a year through the gun. I'm thinking the standard assembly line guns are going to fall apart rather quickly.
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

          I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

            I don't know that's true ...Stoeger, mebee
I am well over 35,000 rounds, RH ejector is getting worn, but that is the only problem
the 687 is not an expensive Beretta
truthfully, I expected some problems would crop up long before this point
now, with the ammo bullPeshitta, we have dropped to a mere pittance of what used to be a good season
prolly only 5000 rounds in the last several years
at one point, it was a good every other saturday at Brooks .. and some 10 -12 boxes of shells each time

I have had this same discussion in my head when I tried to find reasons to rationalize how much I was going to allocate for a dedicated clay gun. Sometimes, a gun with two barrels (or one even, but for this discussion I will refer to SG guns as O/U's) just needs to go bang. Then there are some that are gonna need to stand the test of time and a light beating of 5000rds a year being thrown out the tubes. This second gun is where it sounds like you are (where I was a couple of years ago). Triggers are gonna make a difference. Balance of the gun. LOP, height of the rib, ejectors, shape of the stock (I dig on a palm swell and wish I had gotten the Citori 725 sometimes) and the aggressiveness of the checkering. The tolorances of cheap ammo and good ammo and load your own ammo...These are the little things that start to add up as you move from a wally world special to Beretta, Browning, Benelli ect. Then there are the third and dick measuring guns like the Krieghoff's, Perazzi, Purdy and Sons, H&H, Blaser, Caesar Guerini...

Do you drive your car to work to get you there? Or do you drive your car so people will notice you on your way there?

I'm looking for a dedicated clay gun. I've got serious recoil sensitivity due to multiple spinal fusions. I've been looking at the Remington VersaMax or one of these Benelli's (Vinci Cordoba, Super Vinci, Vinci or Vinci Super Sport). All have the ComforTech Plus recoil reduction system and are Inertia Driven. I haven't shot any of these SG's so I'm at the early stages of my research. Any input from those familiar with any of these shotty's would be greatly appreciated. Not even sure if any would be suitable for my restrictions but my research brought me to these as low recoil.

A semi auto will (very general blanket statement here) want a load that assists the bolt to cycle fully. I know nothing about the Inertia Driven systems. There are some guns (and I am not familiar with Benelli's line) that have adjustable gas settings. In contrast (again very general blanket statement) will eat any load you put in. Now, granted, I have had trouble with aluminum wally world loads not extracting.

Have you given some thought to felt recoil? Shirts and pads ect?

I've considered the entire package, ie: comfortech plus, inertia driven, low recoil rounds, padded butt plates, padded shirts, all to make the experience workable.

If your talking about a double, the trap and skeet queers will look down their noses at you if you aren't a couple grand into a shotgun, even if you are better at their gay little game, being good at trap and skeet is kind of like coming in second in a drag race.
Real gaming guns you have basically 4 -6 choices, Benelli M1/M2, Remington Versamax/Berreta 1301, new player int eh game, FN SLP/Winchester X2, nice, but my buddy has one and it has a few issues Mossburg 930 JMPro, mine works well but the question of long term reliablity has popped up, or cheap outand get a used 1100/1187, 1100 are great hunting guns, suck for gaming, fine for trap and skeet gayness. Or the Stoeger that came out whichis similar to the Benelli

There are only 2 things in life gayer than gay porn, soccer and skeet shooting. As to the Stoeger comment, as I stated, the trap and skeet queers shun everything that isn't exspensive.

I may speak with some veracity on the Stoeger subject
a friend gave me a new SxS as part of a trade deal
I thought it would be OK as a rabbit gun
that said, in less than 600 rounds, it had one broken firing pin, and it was loose enough that it did not want to lock properly
someone did me a favor and stole it
