From the factory the CZ has much better magazines, Better stocks and fitment and even trigger.

I have had 4 savages that came with the boyds stocks and heavy barrels and have sold them to replace them with CZ's. Best part is they are almost equally priced.

What's good target ammo? I've got Remington, CCI and Federal. believe they're all 36-40 gr std velocity. or should I be looking at jacketed HV rounds?

Also thinking about adding a Williams rear peep sight.

You want this sight. The williams is OK but this is where its at!

Also as for ammo. I shoot a lot of CCI standard velocity, Wolf Match/target or Aguila Match/target. Good quality target ammo for the price that wont break the bank. Without having a few thousand dollar target gun I cannot justify the premium for the other higher priced stuff like eley

I would stay away from the boyds stocks that are garbage for the most part.
But what about the troupsystems stock? I was wondering what you meant by better because savage gives olympic grade accuracy with that kind of addition and out of the box.
Bedding is so simple a 10 year old can do it. Even CZ owners are upgrading to those stocks because they are so much better than factory no matter what brand.

I have been shooting them for many years and if you look at the rifmfire forums people are getting the same results.
The diopter sights vs. open sights would be an add on wiht either brand unless one goes for an anschutz with everything including.

This is what folks are using but a cheaper set would be a lot better. Savage FV model displayed but the same can be done with the bull barrel season deals.

Magazines in the CZ are a tad better but they are polymer and $35 vs. $18 for the savage.
Never had any reliability problems with the magazines nor the gun. Zero malfunctions of any kind.
I am not missing anything form a full adjustable accutriger that I have down to 1.5 lbs.

So with the $190 savage fluted bull barrel special plus the TS stock for $100 I end up with a more accurate reliable rifle, why is something else better?
I challenge anyone to a shoot out to see who scores better with any 22LR of your choosing vs the MKII. Any distance.

CZ are good guns not doubt about that but better and w/o upgrades? Again, as soon as one steers away from the crappy stock they put
to meet the price points of US retail store deals.

It is a shame when people demanding tolerance, have no tolerance

Mek I have no doubt about what you're saying but I just liked the "look" of the CZ better, which actually came down to the factory stock. If I can put 24 out of 30 rounds in a 4" target at 25 yrds it will be well worth the price and I'll have a decent gun to give to my son. Plenty of time to build a precision shooter down the road. This is actually the first bolt gun that I ever bought (have a 17 HMR (Savage, I think, LOL) that was a gift (to my boy actually) but I never bought a bolt. Maybe some more down the road, you know how that goes...

4" target at 25 yards? Get that puppy to an Appleseed event! By the second day you'll be consistently putting rounds into a shingle (3/4" x 1" square)....at 25 yards...with iron sights.
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

              I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

At 25 yards I am thinking more like producing groups back to back that one should be able to cover with your shirts buttons.
But I am not sure with open sights. They are just not precise no matter what brand.

Consistent postage stamp-sized groups at 25 yards (4 MOA) with irons (peeps or diopter) are much more impressive in my book than 1 MOA groups at same distance with optics.

Are we talking "open" or "iron"?

I mean fine diopter sights with a long radius.
Any V, open, whatever are not that precise.
