I decided the quickest way to get it was order a spare stock set for $29. Then I filled the thumbhole with a block of wood, epoxied in place, and then coated with a layer of JB Weld.
Here is what it looked like at the FFL when I went to pick it up.

I brought my modified stock in with me, and they installed it so I could take legal possession.
And here it is now that I have it home with me.


Now that I have it, I can paint it to match, paint a "FUAC" where the thumbhole used to be, or cover it with velcro and put some patches there, or whatever else comes to mind for ideas.
