Randall, mag changes are not as slick, but i have a system that seems to work ok and im sure ill get very efficient with more practice. And the cross bolt safety is something im familiar with from other long guns, but not as convenient as a standard ar selector. Not a real big deal though, although the safety is quite stiff on this rifle. Im not sure if its how its built or what, but it takes some serious pressure to manipulate it. I emailed Ares asking about this already and ill see what they say.
So on the fence about getting just a lower of the ARES for something different of just stick out the FRS Stock deal... Celt you gotta come up here so we can shoot both and see which works for both of us. Ammo and lunch on me.
Ever since it was released i said id like one even if we didnt live in a ban state. Theres no doubt that the controls on a standard ar make more more efficient manipulation, but you can still be quick with this rig.
One hang up I have is that I only own one 5.56 upper and its a Sig 516 upper (piston) therefore wont work and the rest of mine are 6.8 SPC.... Plus, with the ARES, you cant put on a 22LR upper since bolt system wont work.
That being said.... I'm considering the ARES for the NYSH custom caliber idea as well as an excuse to add another 5.56 upper to the mix.
