BTW, I fondled a G43 tonight, not impressed............even the hardcore Glock fanboy owner is rather disappointed with it. Described it a a skinny, lighter G19 that's hard to hold on to, hard to control, has a sucky trigger, and the recoil is very snappy (bordering on uncomfortable). He actually stated that he likes his Shield better.

This Glock fan boy took his new G43 & S&W Shield out for a side by side shoot out over the weekend...Results are in, S&W has nothing to worry about, the new G43 is not even close. A buddy & I went through about 500 rounds.

Size - Tie - nearly identical.
Function - Tie - No malfunctions from either, we shot through all sorts of crappy ammo.
Recoil - Shield - much nicer to shoot
Ergonomics - Shield - The G43 some how manages to pinch my trigger finger every dang shot
Trigger- Shield - new G43 trigger feels heavier than the 5.5 standard Glock trigger (to me anyways)
Capacity - Shield - 8+1

The Shield shoots with the comfort of a larger gun (for me). The G43 feels small & snappy!

Being the true Glock Fan Boy that I am, I will keep it around.....but it will not be replacing the G19 or Shield on my hip anytime soon! Persoanlly, I think the Glock Perfection thing is just not what it used to be.

Well it's about time you finally wandered over here to see what all the fuss was about. Thanks for the honest review of the 43, in return I'll have to say that the 26 has replaced my XDS in most situations as my favorite carry. Uh oh, does that make me a fan boy now?

Update:

The stupid little unwanted cheap ugly black plastic gun has become my constant companion. I've got hundreds of rounds down the pipe without a hiccup; it's my EDC and I have to say that nobody is more surprised than me. I really want to love the G30 but it's just seems so much heavier than the 26. I didn't bother with going to the gym in an effort to slim down enough to IWB carry, my OWB holster from Kustom Concealment hides her just fine under a tee-shirt.

I just picked up a Sig 1911 Commander from a member next door but I don't think anything is going to replace the G26 any time soon. It appears that Glocks are kind of like cats: the more you hate them, the more they like you.

Yeah, I think it was a smoking deal. I went to the Sig website to research pricing and discovered that it does not show up as a product (1911 Commander in stainless with a rail). Further research shows that SIg made a limited number of these in 2008 but never committed to a full production run and they never added this gun to the product line. It doesn't appear on the web site or in any of the Sig catalogs and from what some of the guys that contacted Sig about this gun have discovered, it appears that Sig doesn't have exact production figures either. Hell, I had a tough time even Googling a picture of a "SIg Sauer 1911 stainless Commander with rail".

I'm thinking it's a pretty rare specimen.....

Nice gun. I really like mine. Get a few 19 mags and an x grip. You will not be disappointed.

There's a reason I got the 26 instead of the 19: I wanted the short grip for concealment. Running 19 mags simply for the extra length so I can hook the pinky defeats the purpose in my mind but I do appreciate the advice. (unless you're suggesting 19 mags loaded to the standard 15 round capacity....I do like that idea!)
