So, I'm enjoying the free state of KY this week. My cousin took me up to her place, way back in a holler where she and her husband own @ 50 acres surrounding their home. She knows I came to shoot so she started digging around to find some guns. The cavalier attitude towards firearms around here blows my mind: "I know there's a 40 around here, it was in my son's room but the case is empty, let me call him"...."He says it's in his truck but that it's OK because they're off from school this week so we'll take a look at what is in the safe" (he's 17 years old!) The kid's 20 year old friend sold him the pistol when he was 16! (my mind is blown). "I had a 9mm but I'm not sure where I left it."
Any, we grab a 22 Buckmark and head up the hill behind the house. My other cousin Becky (Rachel's sister) lives across the road and came up to say hi. She calls her husband and tells him to come up and bring some guns so her cousins from NY can shoot. Mike shows up with.....a S&W 460 Mag, 12" ported barrel and a nice piece of glass mounted on it. So, I got to cross off "shoot a 460 Magnum wheel gun" from my gun bucket list. I must say, it was quite controllable and fun to shoot, no muzzle flip, just a very strong straight back push (like a 45ACP on steroids.
Next up I ran a few standard capacity mags through his Baretta 92 (another gun I have been wanting to try...now I gotta get one). The Baretta is a really nice shooting gun.
Finally capped the afternoon with another one on my gun bucket list, the 338 Win Mag. The only downside to freedom is that sometimes you have to shed a little blood.
338 WinMag vs S&W 460 Magnum (that pistol round if freaking huge)
