Doesn't it have 2 different steps - 1 clean and 1 lube? What is tedious about the first application?

Ok I can go a couple ways

I think frog lube is the one where you're supposed to heat up all your clean parts before the first application.

As WF said, you'll have to heat up the metal parts, barrel, slide, lower, and apply the FrogLube. Then let it cool off with the FrogLube still on it for 1/2 hr. Then wipe it dry with a clean cotton cloth. Works great but the first application takes more effort than subsequent applications. Worth the effort IMO.

I'm popping corn for this topic!

Here is my go to: wet a patch with 2-cycle oil and saturate bore. Let sit until next range trip. Several dry patches and go shoot. 2-cycle (cheap stuff) has an additive that breaks down carbon and the oils keeps the bore nice and shinny.

When it's time to get copper out, go after it with 7.62.
