Yep! That's the one I started this thread about. Now you're going to need a license to purchase a semi-auto long gun anywhere in NY (just like in NYC)....and you'll have to renew that long gun license just like the pistol permit. SMFH

I wonder how that's going to work going forward? Are you going to have to carry the long gun permit with you in case you're caught in possession of a long gun? What about people that come in other states and bring a semi-auto rifle with them? How do you deal with the millions of semi-auto rifles already owned by NY residents?

Bravo....well thought out piece of legislation they just passed there.

So if this becomes law then you can't buy any firearms until manufacturers make them with microstamping? Isn't that violation of 2nd amendment preventing sale by requiring something that doesn't even exist?

Don't worry USMC. I'm sure the courts will strike down such a blatantly unconstitutional law....after 3-5 years and hundreds of thousands of private dollars get the case before the right judge. In the meantime, I'm sure New York will have passed at least a few more unconstitutional laws that will need to work their way through the court system as well.

I’m pretty sure that’s why microstsmping keeps getting thrown out. It doesn’t exist therefore requiring it is a de facto ban

                        The stupid, it hurts.

So the already overly taxed county clerks who are months behind on pistol permits are now going to be required to deal with rifle licenses. Awesome. A de facto ban on semi autos. Fudds are finally going to be pissed off.

Edit: It looks like A-8102A/S-6363A, still haven't been signed

Edit 2: (I'm editing as I read through) It appears that A-8741/S-7736 only makes it illegal to SELL 80% lowers, not possess, correct? That's stupid. (it's also stupid to make possession illegal, just to be clear)

Edit 3: A-10503/S-9458 is only a permit to obtain a semiauto rifle, as it reads, but you don't have to KEEP that permit to possess them once bought? The logic is baffling and seriously hurts my head.

Yes but if you don't renew the permit to buy and take possession on semi auto rifles you're fined $250 and that is taken into consideration for future license requests.

So it's a money grab. What a crock of PePeshittata.

I wonder if you can "cancel" the permit, avoiding the poll tax.

The fine only comes if you DON'T recertify.

My thought is that they want to force you to recertify so if you don't pass recertification it's reason to take away all your firearms.
