So guns are now banned in the VA capitol. But there's a big protest/demonstration coming up that is expected to draw a lot of VA gun supporters who want to keep their 2A rights. So now Coonman is delaring a "temporary emergency" and banning weapons from the capitol square for the event. Where have we seen this before? Is Coonman consulting with Cuomo these days?

    https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/va...omment-4422149

Fearing a repeat of the deadly violence that engulfed Charlottesville more than two years ago, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam plans to declare a temporary emergency Wednesday banning all weapons, including guns, from Capitol Square ahead of a massive rally planned next week over gun rights.

That’s according to two state officials who were briefed on the plans but not authorized to speak publicly about them. The governor, a Democrat, plans to announce the plans at a news conference Wednesday afternoon because of credible threats of potential violence and extremism, one official said.
What are the odds he'll have goons confiscate a 2D AR15 silhouette sign being held by one of the demonstrators?

One official said Northam decided to ban all guns from the grounds of Capitol Square after receiving reports for weeks about inflammatory online postings by out-of-state pro-gun and militia groups who are promising to attend Monday’s rally.

The official said the state does not have intelligence that the groups are planning a specific act of violence, but said Northam has grown increasingly concerned about numerous ominous-sounding postings on social media from forces outside Virginia. The official cited one posting that included a photo of an AR-15 and said there are “great sight angles from certain buildings” near Capitol Square.
You'd think they were preparing for an Antifa rally or something.

Northam’s declaration will also ban items like helmets and shields, items that some white nationalists carried in Charlottesville. It’s unclear how long the temporary ban will be in effect.
The government is supposed to fear the people, so this is all just confirmation of why the 2A exists if you ask me.

BTW, Northam announcing today that he is declaring an Emergency and banning all firearms from VA Capital grounds. Wonder if his local cops are up to dealing with enforcing this ban if 50 thousand or more angry gun owners decide to show up and ignore this ban next Monday?

It appears as though many VA and out of state gun owners might do just that. I'm not entirely sure where these armed disobedience instructions originated, but TTAG is a fairly well trafficed website and they are now spreading the message. The thrust of the article wasn't necessarily to share this information, but it's there as part of an article.

Disinformation and rabble-rousing. Hopefully common sense will prevail and the Patriots will show up, be carrying concealed, and commence with a peaceful protest.

Seems he's declared a state of emergency, allowing him to call in the National Guard.

The article doesn't mention anything about him utilizing the National Guard, and my guess is that Guard members already would have been notified if they're going to be needed in 4 days. Unless there are additional reports confirming it, I'm skeptical that the governor is going to outfit a bunch of local citizen gun nuts with government supplied weaponry and heavy equipment.

                      January 16, 2020
The three men are members of The Base and were arrested on federal charges in a criminal complaint unsealed in Maryland, according to a Justice Department news release. Tuesday’s complaint charges Canadian national Patrik Jordan Mathews, 27, and Brian Mark Lemley Jr., 33, of Elkton, Maryland, with transporting a firearm and ammunition with intent to commit a felony. William Garfield Bilbrough IV, 19, of Denton, Maryland, is charged with “ transporting and harboring aliens.”

The three men were believed to be planning to attend the pro-gun rally planned for Monday in Richmond, according to a law enforcement official who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss an active investigation.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam on Wednesday declared a state of emergency and banned all types of weapons from the gun rally, citing reports that armed militia groups were planning to attend. The Virginia Citizens Defense League and Gunowners of America filed a lawsuit Thursday seeking an injunction specifically against the ban on firearms.

In encrypted chat rooms, members of The Base have discussed committing acts of violence against blacks and Jews, ways to make improvised explosive devices, their military-style training camps and their desire to create a white “ethno-state,” according to an FBI agent's affidavit.

Mathews and Lemley were arrested in Delaware and Bilbrough was arrested in Maryland, according to Marcia Murphy, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Maryland. All three men were making initial court appearances Thursday afternoon in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Mathews illegally crossed the U.S. border near Minnesota in August, according to court papers. Lemley and Bilbrough then drove from Maryland to Michigan to pick up Mathews before the three headed to Maryland in late August, investigators said.

Mathews was a combat engineer in the Canadian Army Reserve. Lemley was a "cavalry scout" in the U.S. Army, court papers show. U.S. and Canadian authorities had been searching for Mathews after his truck was found in September near the border between the two countries. He was last seen by family members in Beausejour, northeast of Winnipeg, on Aug. 24, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

The Canadian military’s intelligence unit was investigating Mathews for “possible racist extremist activities” for several months, according to the Canadian Department of National Defence. Authorities say Lemley and Mathews built an assault rifle using several parts, including an upper-receiver that Lemley had ordered and shipped to a Maryland home. In December, the three men gathered at an apartment that Lemley and Mathews rented in Delaware, where they discussed The Base and its activities and members, passed around the assault file and tried to make the drug DMT, a hallucinogen, according to court papers.

A few days later, Lemley and Mathews bought 150 rounds of ammunition and paper shooting targets and Lemley was spotted by an FBI agent at a gun range in Maryland. Court papers say federal agents heard the gun firing in rapid succession and authorities allege that Lemley later told Mathews: “Oh oops, it looks like I accidentally made a machine gun.”

Federal agents appeared to be tracking the men's movements and set up a stationary camera near the gun range, which captured video of Mathews shooting the gun there on Jan. 5. Court documents say Lemley had also ordered 1,500 rounds of ammunition and he and Mathews visited the gun range as recently as Saturday.

Lemley also is charged with transporting a machine gun and “disposing of a firearm and ammunition to an alien unlawfully present in the United States.” The Anti-Defamation League said members of The Base and other white supremacist groups have frequently posted online messages advocating for “accelerationism,” a fringe philosophy in which far-right extremists “have assigned to their desire to hasten the collapse of society as we know it.”

“The term is widely used by those on the fringes of the movement, who employ it openly and enthusiastically on mainstream platforms, as well as in the shadows of private, encrypted chat rooms,” the ADL says.

In recent months, FBI agents have arrested several members of a different far-right extremist group, the neo-Nazi Atomwaffen Division. Atomwaffen has been linked to several killings, including the 2017 shooting deaths of two men at an apartment in Tampa, Florida.

Transporting and harboring aliens? Do they know Cuomo is giving driver's licenses to illegals and not sharing the information with ICE? Maybe they could arrest him for us.

I'm predicting nothing happens on Monday. Antifa is showing up... in support of gun rights. Plenty of people will be armed and dressed in full kit. The police aren't going to try to push anything because it will be their butts at risk if things go south. There might be some tense words, but overall I think this is going to end up being a peaceful event. Monday will come and go, and after nothing dramatic happens, the media will still portray gun owners as dangerous scum and argue that nobody should be in public dressed in full rattle battle like a lot of the people will be. The governor of Virginia will proceed undeterred and sign the anti-gun legislation anyways.

Eventually something might happen when the authorities try to pick on the wrong person. My guess is that a situation similar to Whiskey Warrior is where things are going to go south because people will start making decisions quickly. This event Monday has had lots of planning and there has been a lot of discussion about what people should and should not do. Everyone knows the entire nation will be watching. But if some popular 2A supporter gets a no-knock in the middle of the night and live streams it...... there are lots of people who are going to act quickly and passionately.

Only a couple more days and we'll find out.
