Unlike NY, the cast of Deliverance has risen up en masse to lash out against their oppressors as opposed to simply sitting around in gun forums and b itching about things.

After all the hype and talk leading up to this event, which group of demonstrators do you suppose will voluntarily enter the large fenced in area with only one entrance/exit?

I’d be willing to bet Dems would be first. The fence and guards will “protect” them.

Can't help but consider the way antifa gets handled compared to this.

Pro 2A group sets date for rally.
Governor claims there are threats of violence.
Governor declares state of emergency, bans weapons, fences off demonstration area.

                  Antifa sets date for rally.
Everyone knows they're going to be violent.
Governor tells police to back off and not do anything as massive brawls erupt all over the city.

VCDL is requesting at least 10K lobbyists to "take one for the team" (their exact words) and enter the fenced area unarmed so that they can get inside and lobby their representatives....BUT..... they are also asking that for every one citizen "taking one for the team" there be 4-5 armed citizens accompanying that one volunteer to remain on the perimeter of the fenced area to provide armed security for their designated volunteer.

The Oath Keepers seem to be involved.

                      https://oathkeepers.org/2020/01/urgent-need-volunteers-jan-20th-to-protect-patriots-at-richmond-gun-rights-rally/

Oath Keepers will NOT be entering Northam’s absurd slave pen, and we urge all other patriots to likewise refuse to disarm and go through metal detectors just to attend a “gun rights rally.” A disarmed gun rights rally in VA is an absurdity and an abomination. As Patrick Henry would say, “Forbid it almighty God!” Tens of thousands of American patriots agree, and we will all be outside of Northam’s sheep pen/slave pen in the streets of Richmond, standing in defiance and protest.

But this does mean that instead of all of us standing on the green, we will now be crammed into those narrow streets, surrounded by high rise buildings and multi-story parking garages. And all those gun owners crammed into those narrow streets just makes conflict with Antifa and other leftist agitators, provocateurs/false flag operators all the more likely and makes the plans of any nefarious actors all the easier.

I don't know. A lot of the people predicting the start of a civil war are also assuming the absolute worst of not only the demonstrators, but also of the LEOs who will be securing the area. I still say an armed society is a polite society. There have been multiple major demonstrations with openly armed people in attendance - not the least of which was Charlottesville, and no gunfights erupted. Crap went down but the heavily armed guys weren't the problem. While the politicians pushing these laws are turds, I think they fall short of being evil.

There were a lot of the same concerns about agent provocateurs and people being hot headed back when SAFE was still fresh in everyone's minds. It's an interesting psychological study. The anti-2A crowd is generally fearful of firearms, yet many of the pro-2A groups believe that the antis are willing to risk everything for their cause. In today's information age, the background and political affiliation of anyone who starts anything will be discovered in fairly short order. Many pro-gunners seem to think that the crew who writes articles about getting PTSD from shooting an AR is going to risk their lives and massive political damage to their cause by starting something big at a rally full of open carriers. I'm skeptical.

My prediction is still that things remain pretty peaceful and overall it ends up being a non-event. I guess everyone can give me a hard time over BBQ Friday if I end up being wrong.

We got 15 minutes of fame on the national stage to portray ourselves as normal folks, the kind you see in the grocery store or at church every week. Instead, we provided the perfect fodder to reinforce the stereotype of the tacticool battle rattle-clad militants toting Barret 50 cals around. In this given situation at Richmond, it was all about optics.....and the MSM is gonna plaster the above image all over the nightly news. I get the whole "we need to display force to the politicians"....it is simply my opinion that today was not the day. YMMV.
