The Department, however, has revised the definition of"single function of the trigger" to mean "single pull of the trigger" and analogous motions, taking into account that there are other methods of initiating an automatic firing sequence that do not require a pull.

My interpretation of this, and where be the Court will go
Is that the Rifle bumping against your trigger finger
Is the same as full-auto fire as that was Your INTENT
One has to understand the legal interpretation of things that would seem clear to one not involved in the Fvkkery that has become what Law is
One might think that they "own" their lawn mower
However, legally, the Mower .....
Is a "Thing"
And
You .. have a "Property Interest" in such " thing"
WTF .😈sic semper boogaloo

My prediction: Within a year's time, the anti-gun crowd will be wishing they'd never pushed for a bump stock ban.

My suspicion is that pushing a bump stock ban will lead to an unraveling of NFA law. Time will tell. This Lord Rockwell guy looks like he's just hitting the tip of the iceberg. Things could easily go further, and based on how fast the market has already responded to the rule change, I'm sure things will go further.

The 2A crowd usually focuses on playing defense by fighting infringing laws in court. The antis pass laws that infringe on our rights faster than we can fight them in court. We're always on our heels.
Bump stocks were a novelty that most shooters didn't really care about. Then the antis decided to ban them. Suddenly shooters all know about bump stocks and have learned quite a bit about the laws governing them thanks to all the anti publicity. We're about to see the market flooded with new products to replace bump stocks. The antis are now going to be playing defense to fight these new products.

It's actually very scary........
How long did it take the feds to make a change in the language of the rule to outlaw bump stocks? Creating a new solution to the problem every time they change the wording is taking advantage of the inherent slowness of a bureaucracy.
I've seen many people respond to anti gunners wanting to ban guns by saying something like "yeah, because banning alcohol worked so well during prohibition". That's pretty much where we find ourselves at the present point in time.
New York passed the SAFE act. Barely anyone registered their rifles. Massachusetts (?) passed a similar registration scheme. Barely anyone registered their rifles. A town in Colorado tried requiring everyone to register their firearms and compliance has been nonexistent. I believe both Florida and New Jersey have now outlawed bump stocks. New Jersey required people to either destroy them or turn them in. Has anyone done so?

New Year's eve reading:
By NFA and GCA definition (26 U.S.C. 584(b)), "The term "machinegun" also includes "the frame or receiver of any such weapon" or any part, or combination of parts, designed and intended "for use in converting a weapon into a machinegun," and any combination of parts from which a machinegun can be assembled if such parts are in the possession or under the control of a person. "
This is an angle I hadn't considered before, and I'm not sure if it will work for or against gun owners in legal challenges. Previously, three hole lower receivers were illegal because they fell under the above definition of a "macinegun". If bump stocks turn an AR15 into a "machinegun", then that means technically any ordinary 2 hole receiver is now just as illegal as a 3 hole receiver.
