    not at all ...
"National Reciprocity" will not bear on what "this STATE" may enforce on Residents
further, I believe that New York will simply ignore any "national" act should it in someother lifetime pass CONgress

Sadly, just like the ill-conceived gun control legislation (microstamping, smart guns, ammo purchase limited to 2x capacity of your gun, etc.) this is merely "feel good" legislation that was not thought through and really stands no chance of actually passing and being enforced at the state level.

So you're saying we're going to see a further decline in the rule of law and an eventual constitutional crisis?

I have no doubt New York State will do their best to fight it, but it seems like merely ignoring it will lead to some slam dunk court cases where the state loses in the long run. I figured the state would instead try to do what they've always done and just regulate things to death.

"Sure, you can have your reciprocity, but since you still have to follow local regs so we're going to add a crapton of local regs across the state that mean your permit is essentially useless."

How about running a few 2A infringement cases through the SCOTUS and getting some rulings that affirm both the RTKBA and Constitutional carry? The whole permit/may issue thing needs to be struck down.

I'd like to think that's the direction it would go. If Trump makes decent nominations it seems like Cuomo would want to avoid court cases that would progress that far. That would mean abiding by any reciprocity bill that passes and keeping SAFE on the books so it can continue to have a chilling effect upon gun rights within the state.

If Cuomo is the reason a case goes to the SCOTUS that ends up striking a major blow to pistol permitting or "assault weapon" bans, I'm not sure his anti-gun supporters will assist him in achieving his future political ambitions. (Not that the anti-gun platform really helps one achieve the presidency these days anyways.)

                  Completely missed this.

This could really throw a crimp in things. If I can get a FL non-res without a NYS permit...I wonder how that would work. My guess is that your permit would have to match the address on your license/ID. But at the same maybe not.
