If they combine 4477 and 38 say good bye to your right to due process ladies and gentlemen. The fix nics crap they are trying to pass takes the powers away from the local judges and gives it to a federal Bureaucratic demigod. It would be a nation wide Safe act minus the msr and msp ban

I'm not real happy with the "fix NICS" being attached to it, but I saw it described as giving up an inch to get 6 back. We'll see how it plays out in the senate.

Where it will go to the Senate, be decoupled from fix nics, the Senate will pass fix nics (because the Repubs already voted in favor......hard for them to renege), and reciprocity will die but the fix nics will sail through. (you heard it here first)

NYS will not comply and put honest citizens against the wall. It is what they do best.
They will say local ordinances are still valid and people will comply because they do not want legal trouble.
If you think about it they have unlimited resources to fight you that are paid by you plus you have to pay
for your own defense to get a shot. So you end up paying for your attackers and your defenders.
                  How screwed up is that?

Imagine if politicians and prosecutors were personally liable for the damages occurred when an injustice was done
and the legislation that led to that injustice was of their making? Legally and ethically that would
be accountability, but we don't want that in the public sector, do we?

For New York State residents that have been beaten into submission and no longer understand how to live as free men and women that's probably true.

Someone from out of state will head to NYC carrying after (if) reciprocity passes and get arrested. It will become a court case that will probably make it's way up in the system.

I thin it is also the time for the progun groups to propose changes to get rid of the existing background check process
and have a process that works so we don't end up with thugs like texas church massacre out in the streets with guns.
The system does not work. It is stupid. Plus that guy was supposed to be in Jail or a mental institution.

Then why not make it retroactive and assure nobody can go to jail but also people how have been arrested in NYC released immediately?
If the law is to protect the people make sure you make it bullet proof so if the state doesn't release a person raped of his/her rights, the feds will.
This will save grief and money to the country for unnecessary legal BS.

The hard part is what do you replace the broken system with? I can't fathom anything that would work better than what we have. A database is only as good as the information entered into it.

Agree and that is very simple. We have precise information on peoples finances and credit and other details and we cannot have one about arrests, mental hospitals, etc...?
One cannot get to pilot a plane or operate heavy machinery w/o a check (that goes very deep) yet we allow a lunatic out on the streets buying guns and ammo?

                            seriously.
