What do I have to do to get it again?? All of the running around that I had to do last time?? What a PITA that was.

All you need to do is spend 5 minutes filling out an application, sign a form letter to your local "chief law enforcement officer" (template provided in the garandgear link above), and drop 2 envelopes in the mail box. What kind of running around did you have to do last time? (the phrase "like a chicken with its head cut off" comes to mind for some reason....)

( I want to make this 100% clear to all of you that have a 03FFL now. IF you purchase a C&R eligible firearm from a dealer OR you buy one from an individual that insists on you having a NICS BGC done on you at time of purchase, that firearm IS NOT to go on your books!!!

The weird part about that is if you sell a c&r gun while you have your license even if it was acquired before licensing you have to log it as received from yourself and log it out to your buyer.

Also, I have had 01 FFL's sell me C&R's with no background check. Just a hand off in a parking lot.

Wrong .... if you sell a gun the qualifies as C&R BUT you bought it before you had your C&R, you sold a personal use firearm and NOT a firearm from your collection.(as it was not acquired USING your 03FFL) I suppose you could log it in as from yourself if you wanted to, but it was up until the day you logged it in from yourself a personal firearm.

You have FFL's sell you a gun in the parking lot?? You must have your license on file with them. Only downfall is, you're both in deep Peshitta if there was no FFL to FFL paperwork filled out. You may wanna keep that your little secret. All FFL's I deal with didn't want to deal with FFL to FFL paperwork which is why they would only sell to me as someone that didn't have a 03FFL. It really is a PITA on their end.

You have NO idea. I had to personally drop off the letter to the Sheriff's office AND wait to get an acknowledgment letter in return. I had to have letters written by people stating they felt "safe" with a collector in the proximity. (within 1500') It was an absolute PITA!!! Waiting for people to get me the letters and crap and have to drive to the Sheriff's office (24+ miles away). I'm going to try this online thing and see what happens. I see I have to fill out more paperwork too because I had one before and let it run out. ARGH .... I had to because of "Saratoga County". .... *******s.

When I look at AIM and J&G the pickin seems quite slim.

SOG .... they have a decent selection. Even though my 03FFL ran out, I can still access their dealer only site.

Why would Saratoga ****ing county have any say in you getting a personal FEDERAL collectors license? According to the BATF, all you need to do is send them the application and make an effort to send a letter to the chief LEO. The BATF does not require proof that you notified the chief LEO and the C&R is not dependant upon any type of acknowledgement from the chief LEO or approval from any local or state people. Hell, just send the app to the BATF, the letter to the LEO, and don't fvcking tell your firends/neighbors/local town board/chamber of commerce/or donald freaking duck that you have applied. The BATF does not check with nor give a damn about any local or state requirements....it's a federal license for God's sake!

As to reapplying, just skip that Peshilta and apply as if it's your first time. Who?? I've never dealt with Sarco. Southern Ohio Gun is the only place I bought a gun from when I had my FFL. The one and only gun I acquired on the license. LOL

Hmmmm ... well, I have a book here already with LOTS of room on it so .. LOL. One acquisition and one disposition. That's it. Hahaha. You really think that they wouldn't notice that I had one valid up until '13 or "14?? OK .... I'm gonna need some help here. I would like to have one only because I like old wartime rifles. I sold nearly everything I had because of the UNSAFE Act so my collection consists of two Marlin 60's and a Mossberg 500 ... none of which are C&R eligible. I have alot of bows now. LMFAO

What program are you using to open the application? I saved it and opened it to start filling it out and it's opening with Adobe Acrobat DC which is on a cloud .... I don't like the cloud idea. Not one bit. I have no other programs that will open it AND allow me to type in the information.

I just downloaded the application and the template for the chief LEO letter, printed them, and filled them out with a good old-fashioned ink pen.

I've always wanted to do a family photo but am afrid that if I line all the girls up in the backyard to take a picture, someone is going to call the cops to report my "arsenal" of weapons.

That $30 C&R has cost me a crap-ton of dough over the past few years but there is nothing like owning a piece of history. I just wish my collection could talk......
