Sort of. Was a gun owner for quite a while before that, just didn't have any rifles until I was 34.

My parents bought a junior rimfire rifle for me and my sister to use, but not sure if that was really "my rifle". The first rifle that was really mine was probably the one my grandfather built for me, and I wasn't given that until I was probably in my late 20s or early 30s.

Now you've got me curious about the date.

He was a machinist and a shooter. He worked at a company that created (among other things) piezoelectric pressure and impulse sensors. One of the things they created was a chamber pressure sensor using a fixture created from a heavily modified Sako Riihimaki action. He ended up with two of the actions, and converted one of them back into a working action. He then bought a nice heavy Douglas barrel for it and put a rifle together for me.
