2024 continues to bring new entertainment. Texas sets up razor wire to prevent illegal immigrants from crossing the border at Eagle Pass. Texas tells the border patrol to get out and don't come back. The border patrol (through their union reps) basically says "that's fine by us". Then the Supreme Court offers emergency injunctive relief for a lower court ruling that says the feds can remove the border barrier that Texas has constructed. (Norm feel free to correct my terminology on that.) So Gov. Abbott responds by installing more razor wire and sends a letter explaining that he's constitutionally allowed to defend Texas from an invasion if the Feds won't. Now 27 states (?) have sided with Texas against the feds. Supposedly militia members from around the country are headed to Texas. Nobody seems too concerned about the hundreds of miles of open Texas border on either side of Eagle Pass.
My first issue is that the media has totally clouded the story of what the Supreme Court did. They did not write a decision that sets any legal precedent. All they did was say that the feds are allowed to remove the barrier while the case makes its way through the courts and most likely to the Supreme Court where they will make an actual formal ruling. The media hasn't reported that story well and I don't think most of the public understands the legal situation. I'm even a little cloudy on the legal situation, but recognize that fact.
I may be completely out of touch, but as far as I can tell this issue is a political lose/lose situation for Biden. The tactic of the border states bussing illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities like New York and Chicago has turned many Democrat constituents against allowing illegal immigration. So if Biden sends the FedBois down to Texas to take down the barrier, he's going to be turning lots of his constituents against him during an election year.
But, that's precisely the part that is troubling. Biden is an empty suit for the people running the show to hide behind. The 2020 election was at least a little suspicious, and the global elites seems to be in a rush these days. The Dems haven't announced another candidate and seem to be keeping Biden on the ticket. I've been joking with friends by asking the question "Is there going to be a 2024 presidential election?". Do the elites and deep state care about the politics of Biden sending the Feds to Eagle Pass, or do they just want to create chaos?
