    New license to buy rifles in NYS ?

    Any idea how this works yet? I haven't had the patience to fully read the bill. Sounds like it's considered a license like pistol permit and handled through county clerk's office. Also saw that currently owned rifles aren't effected so sounds like they won't be registering new purchases?

    I wonder if it's a license that allows you to buy as much as you want while it's current or if you need to apply for every purchase?

      I'm guessing it'll be similar to the NYC process whereby you have to apply for a permit to purchase/own a long gun?

        At least you're still free to purchase a bolt gun or pump shotgun without seeking the state's permission...........for now.

          What we as gun owners need to do is pick someone to try and purchase right in the beginning and when Peshitta goes wrong pool money to sue the **** out of the state for violating our rights. The state created the law and will choose when it goes into effect so their is no reasons for issues or slow downs.

          I guess this goes into effect in 90 days. My understanding is you need background check and safety course to get license. I'm assuming at a cost which would violate constitution. Then if you fail to recertify the license in 5 years it's a $250 fine AND the licensing officer has to take that into account if you apply for another license.
