In certain products. In other products, we might actually see deflation. Not only are diesel prices getting really high, but demand for the transposition of goods has also fallen in many sectors. Truckers are suddenly getting hit from low demand and high diesel prices.

Covid completely messed up supply and inventory chains that had been naturally normalized through decades of use. Suddenly supply was shut down on a lot of things due to Covid. That meant retailers fell really low on inventory. So lots of orders got placed and when inventory arrived, truckers were in high demand to get the goods to the stores. But it all arrived at once and the economy is slowing. So now many retailers have excess inventory of many products and need to get rid of it. That means truckers aren't going to be moving as many goods for a while, and there is the potential that big retailers with excess inventory are going to start running big sales to clear it out. After the excess inventory gets cleared out, truckers will be seeing more work. How much more work depends on a variety of factors, key among which is how the economy is going.

There will likely be more ripples and gyrations in the system as supply and inventory processes seek level, and truckers will be living in a feast or famine environment for a while.

Obviously wild cards like Ukraine, Taiwan, and China lockdowns are going to make it difficult for these systems to return to equilibrium.
