Apparently LE engaged with shooter outside of the school, their efforts did not neutralize the threat and somehow shooter entered school and then went room-to-room shooting until BP agent went in (without backup, God bless him) and finished the job. So many questions......

Saw a random report that all the students were in one classroom....? Many questions indeed.

Initial reporting is always a mess for this kind of thing, but that won't stop people from proposing certain solutions before the facts are known.

Another one that was probably on their radar beforehand. They need to open the loony bins again. If you need to be on multiple meds to keep you from being a threat to society, you need to be locked away as a threat to society.Another big link in these shootings is notoriety, every "mass shooter" that survived has indicated some need for being famous.Stop printing their names, stop posting their pics.Although most of us are appalled at these incidents there are many more nut jobs out there drooling over the attention the last shooter got.

Social media is a dumpster fire of people thinking they're so important that their public statement of "no more" or "do something" is what will make the difference.

              Yeah. <sigh>

Harden schools, let armed retired military vets volunteer as resource officers, investigate reported social media threats. Done.

There are a number of states that support and encourage teachers to carry concealed, which is even more effective than a designated security guard. But the majority of the virtue signaling on social media either doesn't even touch on any solutions, or just says something obtuse like 'ban guns'.

Back in the day we used to worry about stigmatizing mental illness. Now we're glamorizing and encouraging it among our kids. Remember when parents used to teach kids about 'the facts of life'? Now they're not 'facts' but just opinions you can decide to change on a whim. Perhaps getting back to objective reality would help improve things.

                Crazy talk. I know.

I think we all know here no gun control will solve this kind of carnage. This kid could have done just as much damage with a chainsaw. I got the feel good we have security email from our superintendent tonight, and I have had to restrain myself from telling her that this could easily happen at all of our towns schools. None of them have bulletproof glass. Sure the front door is locked and you have to talk to the desk lady to get in, but you could easily break one of 100 windows in all of the schools and gain access. We have absolutely awesome town cops and Monroe county deputies are minutes away, but how many will die in those minutes? There is only one solution, MAKE YOUR SCHOOL LESS OF A TARGET than the next one. How do you do that?

                  1) Fund armed resource officers that have the will and the ability to take out a threat within a few minutes,
                  2) Arm trained and able teachers that would be willing to respond to a threat. Keep it concealed so no one knows.
                  3) Actually secure the perimeter of the school and not make people feel we have safety since you have to use a call box to open the door. Security windows on all ground floor access points.
                  4) Advertise that this school has armed staff and you will die if you enter with bad intent.

Any of that too hard? Oh, well then it's just political bullPeshitta and more kids will die. Gun control will just lead to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_attacks_in_China

Yeah I read about his background today and it sucked. His mother was a drug addict, no father mentioned at all. Grandma might have sucked since he tried to kill her. Kid out of control, bullied, no support really. Neighbors tried to help, but he had no good role models. Old friends that moved from the area saw a change in him, a dark change, but not something that would make you think this would happen. That is why I say, with this kid having no criminal record....and the Buffalo one too, Gun control would not have fixed it....period. I don't like red flag laws with no due process or repercussion if used incorrectly, but something along these lines should have at least stopped Buffalo. Peshitta the had the kid on a psych eval, then he turns 18 and buys guns. That's a hole in the system I would think.

We need to secure vulnerable places and make them not seem so, and we need a hell of a lot more resources on those kids that are bullied, marginalized, forced into gangs, etc. But hey we can give 40 BILLION to the Ukraine but we can't help solve these problems? We live in a clown world.

Sooooo..... initial reports are always to be taken with a grain of salt, but something absolutely stinks about this story based on what they're saying.

Shooter was being pursued by police when he crashed his truck. He emerged from his truck armed and was engaged by 3 police officers. He then proceeded into the school and had an hour before the border patrol officer showed up and killed him.

I'm sorry, but if any 3 guys from an AA lunch saw a kid with an AR go into a school, he wouldn't have an hour before anyone did anything about it. It's starting to sound like another Parkland type situation.

Have any reports actually said he used a rifle, or are we all just assuming?

How he got into the school becomes a bit more plausible if he didn't use a rifle.
