  • Alec Baldwin shooting

I'm sure you've all heard that Alec Baldwin shot and killed a person on the set of a movie with a "prop" gun that he didn't know was loaded with live rounds.

    https://www.reuters.com/world/us/ale...es-2021-10-22/

I have a few thoughts on this.

Perhaps if Alec Baldwin had taken an NRA firearm safety course instead of bashing the NRA, Halyna Hutchins would be alive today. A gun in the hands of a clueless individual is just asking for trouble. Hollywood loves to make money off the violence in their movies, but shirks the safety lessons of the NRA and other gun rights organizations, and worse, they denigrate the NRA as killers. Alec Baldwin is a prime example of the anti-gun left. Responsible gun owners are taught to treat every firearms as if it is loaded, and we check them to be sure, including when someone, anyone, hands us a gun. Why should Alec Baldwin not be held to the same standard? Obviously a safety check failed here. Are liberals exempt from gun safety rules? Hollywood should be forced to adhere to an NRA safety standard, instead of a "Bash the NRA" standard they hold so dear. They've had plenty of opportunity. This isn't the first on set gun death. Why is that ok, to claim ignorance? As far as I'm concerned, they shouldn't be able to. They have shown a willful disregard towards a basic safety measure, namely, treat every firearm as if it is loaded. This shooting is proof positive of that.

    And there it is....

    https://www.latimes.com/entertainmen...walked-off-set

"Hours before actor Alec Baldwin fatally shot a cinematographer on the New Mexico set of “Rust” with a prop gun, a half-dozen camera crew workers walked off the set to protest working conditions."

"Safety protocols standard in the industry, including gun inspections, were not strictly followed on the “Rust” set near Santa Fe, the sources said."

"A colleague was so alarmed by the prop gun misfires he sent a text message to the unit production manager. “We’ve now had 3 accidental discharges. This is super unsafe,” according to a copy of the message reviewed by The Times."

"Baldwin removed the gun from its holster once without incident, but the second time he repeated the action, ammunition flew toward the trio around the monitor. The projectile whizzed by the camera operator but penetrated Hutchins near her shoulder, then continued through to Souza."

More thoughts, now that I've slept on it....

Someone was directing that set to be operated in an unsafe manner. People quit because it was being operated unsafely. After they left, it was still being operated in an unsafe manner. Who was that person? The director? Alec Baldwin?

Will the police take the easy way out, and charge the prop master? Will they take the easier way out, and declare it an accident? Either would be a travesty of justice.

Someone in charge was directing that the set be operated in an unsafe manner. My money is on Baldwin, who just so happens to be a Producer.

No mention what-so-ever about previous negligent discharges or crew walking out citing safety concerns in the sanitized AP's report of the incident:

Although it looks like an assistant director is going to get tossed under the bus for this one:

"An assistant director unwittingly handed Alec Baldwin a loaded weapon and told him it was safe to use in the moments before the actor fatally shot a cinematographer, court records released Friday show. "Cold gun," the assistant director announced, according to a search warrant filed in a Santa Fe court."

Lots left to be heard in the story here. If this was an incident where they were in the act of filming and he was on script, I can't fault Baldwin. Its on the prop master or stunt coordinator or whomever to make sure everything is safe with the equipment. Its like saying a bungee cord snapped or a parachute didn't open, so its the end users fault for not checking their gear personally.

I did hear however that this may have happened between takes. The director wanted another take, and Baldwin said something to the effect of "How biut i should you both" and then discharged the prop gun in their direction. IF thst turns out to be true, then fry that POS.

That's a cop out, under their current safety standards, to blame an assistant director, unless he's the one that added a loaded gun to the pile of "prop" guns.

Under their current safety standards, this is true. That's the problem. Their current safety standards are crap, whether they were followed or not. I have yet to get an answer from anywhere why "Hollywood" should be held to a different standard than you or I.

I've seen that unattributed quote elsewhere, but with no valid source to back it up. Fact checkers are saying it's false, but we know how fact checkers like to cover for the left. Time will tell.

The head armorer was fearful of loading blanks. Perhaps Hollywood could save itself a lot of unnecessary heartache and grief by looking to flyover country for employees with certain skillsets.

"It was also my first time being head armorer as well," Gutierrez-Reed said. "I almost didn't take the job because I wasn't sure if I was ready, but, doing it, like, it went really smoothly." (different movie)

Gutierrez-Reed added that she was initially fearful of loading blanks. "I think loading blanks was the scariest thing to me because I was like 'oh, I don't know anything about it,'" she said. But her famous father, she said, helped train her up.

Reports are coming out that cast and crew for the movie were using the pistol in question for target practice with live rounds off set during breaks in production.

There are already rumors basically suggesting it was a Clinton Crime Syndicate hit because of the law firm he husband works at.

Complete breakdown in safety protocols and totally avoidable. Safety is ALWAYS #1 for responsible gun owners.

And Baldwin was the Executive Producer, in charge of the whole she-bang.
