Capitol Building Complex on Lockdown

Trump supporters (supposedly) have stormed the capitol and successfully entered the building during a joint session of congress. No idea exactly how sporty it's going to get, but things usually get more interesting after dark during these events in DC.

There are people claiming it's actually Antifa. Given the lack of violence in the DC rally so far, I can't help but wonder.

The social media rumor mill is saying shots have been fired inside Capitol.

Supposedly the defense department has denied a request to deploy the NG to the Capitol.

I was wondering what was going on, i'm way too unplugged for some reason today (oh yeah my daughter took my phone for hours and I'm busy as Peshitta at work in the basement LOL).

It is very possible, but people are also pretty pissed and it's easy for some in a mob of people that large to get excited. we may never know.

There's a lot of questions about this. Usually, when there's a Trump rally, there's also Antifa protesters as well. Today everyone knew a lot of Trump supporters were going to show up, but Antifa didn't really seem to be present. People are wondering why.

While the media is painting this as the worst thing since the civil war, there are some videos coming out from inside the Capitol that show a more festive tone. Granted, the Capitol police can't do a whole lot at this point, but it's not exactly a burn loot murder party either.

Reports are that the one woman who was shot in the neck by Capitol police has died.

yeah i have an old hs friend down there an he's been posting live every now and then and his video during "the breach" were outside, but barely, and seemed very well spirited and i like that word "festive." certainly not a 1776 sort of situation which i did not entirely rule out while thinking about it this morning. can we just say though, holy Peshitta there's a crowd.

A pipe bomb was found at Republican National Committee (RNC) headquarters just blocks away from the U.S. Capitol and the nearby headquarters of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) was evacuated after a suspicious package was discovered there.

i loved that everyone was calling for him to tell everyone to go home, and so he tweeted a video saying something to the effect of "i love everyone but please disperse and go home" and twitter basically blocked any interactions with it so it wouldn't have any reach. wtf, literally what everyone was up his ass to do.

Honestly that will force people to pick a side which will likely escalate things. He's got less then 2 weeks left in office.

This just makes me more suspicious that it was all a setup. What's the point of doing it now? DC was a warzone during the BLM riots and they called it "peaceful protests". Are they worried he's going to expose too much in his final days?

There are videos of the Capitol police letting people through the barricades. The whole thing smells.

My longer term prediction: The establishment never wants another outsider to get elected, so they're going to prosecute Trump after he leaves office and tear up his business empire. They want to send a signal to any other outsiders considering it that running for president is a bad idea. I hate to say it, but I don't think 2021 is going to be much better than 2020.

my daughter is going to look back at 2020 with fond memories too (besides the masks and not getting to snuggle with the grandparents).

He's ruined his own legacy with his juvenile behavior as of late. A bigger man would have stated that he's not happy with how things went but it's time to accept the current situation, regroup, and come back in 4 years. By not denouncing the behavior of that group in DC yesterday and instead actually encouraging it he has pretty much guaranteed that history will not treat him kindly. Had he accepted this BS defeat with grace and moved on quietly he could have possibly become legend, instead Trump has been Trump. It's really too bad.
