I didn't know we were getting all this rain.... Good thing I cleaned gutters day before! Even cleared out jam and gutters were cleaned less then 2 months ago

This weekend appears to be a wash out. I sure hope next weekend is sunny and dry, or there are going to be a lot of disappointed people on the 4th of July weekend!

Plan on trying to mow lawn again tomorrow. My days off this week I want to finish landscaping aspect of front yard for year. Mulch lasts more then 1 season right?

Yes, if you lay it down thick enough.

2 inches? What goes bad with it? Breaks down or just fades?

I don't use it, but I'd guess leaves, etc. that get in it break down and start building up among the mulch, and then weeds start to get a foothold, plus the mulch starts breaking down from worms, moisture, etc.

Yea I have been thinking more about stone instead . I guess it costs more by about 75% and more labor intensive but is cheaper long term since it doesn't go bad

Stone is also more labor intensive when you have to redo it.

I have done stone before as a youth in high school and know its a lot of wheel barrels and work. If I prepped my entire yard prior I think I could do all the moving and laying of stone in two days without to much difficulty if I dedicated myself. I think the prep work would take a lot longer . already have mulch beds with not enough mulch in them and rocks for the border which make trimming for difficult.

Lots of decisions to make but its nice being able to make them !

I just had to redo the white stone on the side of the house after 2 years because it was getting dirty looking, and grass was starting to poke through. The white stone was what Mrs. POP wanted, so that's what she got! I would have preferred a more natural looking stone. Anyway, I had to pull it all up, clean it, and lay it all down again, but thicker this time and with more weed block under it.

Should have 2 to 3 inches worth. I would probably go with the more natural looking stone as well but not sure what I would use as a border.
