My old ARNG unit was activated, they are handing out food to the needy, and cleaning state buildings and NY State colleges with disenfectants. No rifles no ammo. Under Oboma the guard was slashed. So they are under strength. The guard is the states right to its own military. And technically the only branch of the army that can be deployed in us soil (hence why the reserves have no combat arms MOS slots but the guard does) When you sign a contract to the reserves and active duty it's for a specific MOS but When you sign a National Guard contract, not only does it specify your primary MOS and state but your specific uniit. When they need people fast, calling back in soldiers still IRR or retired is much quicker than training new soldiers.

Also I wanted to add my better half works in radiology at Alice Hyde medical center in Malone. Currently the hospitals in this state are only testing people admitted with complications related to Corona, and sometimes the immediate family. So not only are they basically only testing worst-case scenarios, people with mild symptoms or no symptoms are not being tested at all. So the figures are going to be worse case numbers not real world numbers.

The problem is nobody is explaining what worse case is. We know if everyone gets the virus and 3-6 million die they would have achieved immunity butOriginally posted by ADK2ndClub View Post.... the figures are going to be worse case numbers not real world numbers.
there is no guarantee the virus will not mutate and we start all over or what the implications of something like that are to a society so complex and with
so many inter-dependencies.
Even if only half of the population is needed to achieve herd immunity and 1-3 million die is not going to be a 2 or 3 week thing but months.
It cannot be the magic curve because countries who said they were close to that they are not. As expected they were over-optimistic and only trying
to slowdown the rate of growth to protect the health system and economy.
So what is Worse case? Nobody is explaining what this means in terms of possibilities.
I am a very skeptical person and only believe in methodology and scientific methods that can be explained and understood by people.
I have seen all leaders of the world just pretending they know but they don't. They should say we do not have a clue. or lets
wait for more data and the reassessment from epidemiologists all over.

My understanding is that they are minimally differentiated genetic strains that are being used to track the progress of the virus, but they aren't big enough differences to necessitate multiple vaccines. Hopefully.Originally posted by usmcveteran View PostI think I read there are now at least 8 mutated version of corona virus

It's just like gun control. The media gets everyone all hyped up with sensationalistic reporting designed to get lots of clicks. Then the sheeple demand the government must "do something!" Then the politicians just figure they should never let a crisis go to waste. Meanwhile, facts and thoughtful discourse die in the process.Originally posted by Meketrefe View PostI have seen all leaders of the world just pretending they know but they don't. My meaning of worse case, my point was so far 1.8 is an over estimation since 90% of those tested were already critical enough to be admitted. And i keep seing all these scare post about "2 young healthy man die from the virus". But when you go on to read the article, one, despite looking physically fit, but had a heart condition since birth, and picture of the other "healthy' one from march 7th shows he was severely obese. Intentionally making it sound like they had no preexisting conditions. When people comment about how being 400 lbs inst healthy, sjws call them out for fat shaming. I'm sorry being that overweight is not healty, and exactly whay many communicable disease doctors and scientists, think this will be worse in the US than China, because we have more obese people here.Originally posted by Meketrefe View Post

The fatality rate keeps dropping despite the fact that they're only testing people who are severely ill with it. Last I heard the overall fatality rate is about .5%.
Iceland started randomly testing anyone who wanted to get tested, whether they were sick or not. They found that roughly 50% of the people who tested positive were completely asymptomatic. Such a finding only pushes the fatality rate even lower.
So where is the cutoff between "it's just another virus" and "it's a panic and shut down the economy virus"? Should'nt we all settle on a number before giving massive unconstitutional power to the government?

To late to dial it back now. People would be livid for all the lost money if they government came out and acknowledged this was all way over blown.
So basically it sounds better then flu since most people are asymptomatic. I've saw an article about nurses not being able to get hours because ER's are empty.

I've read horror stories about inundated ERs and I've heard nurses are getting laid off. An NP friend who works at Strong said they're asking for volunteers to go to NYC because they're not that busy in Rochester.Originally posted by usmcveteran View PostI've saw an article about nurses not being able to get hours because ER's are empty.
What's the truth? Is the peak still a couple weeks away? Did Rochester already flatten the curve and NYC didn't? Without thorough testing of the population everything is just a guess.
The whole state should not be getting shut down based on the status of NYC.

is the Corona 'rona the Cause of the financial meltdown
or the Cover for the financial meltdown that was inevitable given the trillion upon trillions of .Gov debt
I have no clue, but why would every Countries leadership just shut down their economy ..??
remember, the virus thingy is exponential

https://aapsonline.org/cornoavirus-c...anti-american/Media pundits falsely railed against college students spending spring break on the beaches of Florida. Wild behavior aside, these partiers represent the most effective approach to stopping the spread of the virus, i.e., sunlight and herd immunity of the young and healthy.
If a 10 year old theoretically is not exposed to the virus and is allowed out of the house in 2 months, gets the virus (mild cold or even less symptoms) and then visits Grandma and she dies, who is responsible for that?
This reminds me that I have to post my "this is complete bullPeshitta" story from over the weekend.
