BJ's was doing a VERY brisk business for midday on a Thursday.

my wife is at a BJ's now and said it's crazy busy and creepy with a bunch of people wearing masks

I only saw 1 person wearing a mask, but they were really burning through the shopping cart sanitizer wipes.

I saw a lot of people leaving the store with bottled water, but there was no shortage of bottled and canned beverages available to buy. The paper towel and TP shelves were mostly b.c empty though.

Apparently the mortality rate on Italy is up around 6%, but that might be because they have a lot of old people?

Let's be real at this point...... We're not going to stop the carona virus and everyone will like get it and most probably won't even know they had it.

The only thing limiting the number of confirmed infected people at this point is probably just the number of tests they actually have.

Personally I'm going live my life normally.

?I think those with medical conditions or those in higher risk groups should by all means take additional precautions but having everyone freak out and buy out everything is just going to hurt the at risk people who probably won't be able to get the masks and disinfect supplies they need.

Apparently in Italy they are triaging patients and essentially having to decide who lives and dies based off their symptoms
beause they don’t have the sullies to treat everyone.

The upside to all of this is that RIT extended Spring Break until the 23rd, so my daughter and I are headed down to KY next week to hide out from the corona for a few days.

Haven't seen this said anywhere but with this virus the thing that kills people is respiratory issues right?

If so CPAP can probably help. It's been shown to help in pneumonia and other Respiratory issues.

Personally I'm going live my life normally.

You may not be allowed to due to government directives or secondary and tertiary effects of the virus. Plus, while you might not be personally at much risk, your living your life normally might put others more at risk. The goal of cancelling large events and increasing "social distancing" is to spread the peak of the illness out over as long as time as possible. Economically that is a bad thing to do, but from a public health standpoint it is advantageous. If everyone lives as normal then everyone will get sick at once and overwhelm the hospitals. There aren't enough beds or personnel to deal with the approximately 20% of cases that will require medical care. Even with social distancing, things are very likely to get ugly in large metropolitan areas.

Living in the suburbs or rural areas is definitely better than living in the city for this virus, but if you need medical care you're still probably going to be headed into the city.

Something good is coming out of this epidemic

The good thing that is coming out of a well-publicized infectious disease epidemic for which there is no vaccine, is the public can finally see what happens when no vaccine is available. This analysis reveals most healthy people (non-smokers, non-diabetic, non-obese) have an onboard immune system that produces antibodies naturally without problematic provocation from pathogenic bacteria and viruses housed in a syringe and infused via needle injection.

Frightening error

An egregious and flagrant error in the news media that is frightening the public is to state the death rate from COVID-19 coronavirus is 2.3% to 3.4%. The public thinks this is 2-4 people out of 100.

In reality, the number infected as of March 9, 2020 in China is 80,739 infected individuals out of a population of 58 million in Hubei Province (Wuhan is epicenter), for an infection rate of 0.0014 or less than 1% (just over 1/10^th of one percent).

Then among these infected cases, the number of deaths is 3120 (as of March 9, 2020) which is 5 in 100,000. Due to the fact Americans have chlorinated water, food fortification and availability of dietary supplements that boost immunity, the same death rate as reported in China is not anticipated in the U.S.

Universal vaccination of both healthy and younger American adults would be a blatantly untargeted way to save lives. The greatest number of deaths due to the flu or any strain of coronavirus occurs among senior adults. If it were possible to eliminate deaths due to infectious diseases such as the flu and coronavirus among senior Americans, it would be almost needless to vaccinate in order to save lives, though there may be some rationale to vaccinate in order to reduce morbidity and hospitalization.

Went to Wegmans today, tons of stuff gone, it's getting really rediculous. Definitely not a bad idea if you don't already to make sure you actually have you ccw with you while out and about.
