  • Camp Trailer

    Hi Guys,
I want to find a Camp Trailer that is small yet it has all basic needs.
I don't want to buy new but also don't want something totally vintage or garbage.
If you know anything that is not too expensive but it is structurally and functionally well designed let me know.
I am ok with doing a few repairs and enhancements to make it my own.
I have no clue about campers so please school me on this.

    My requirements are very simple:

    - Sleeps 4
    - Light trailer so it can be towed by a small truck or suv.
    - It has enough capacity to cover basic needs for 4 people for one month so no daily showers or huge energy draw.
    - Decent size storage, battery and potentially dual propane tanks.
    - Decent size fluid tanks easy to flush and refill.
    - Self contained so no expandable modules with soft walls.
    - Functionality is more important than looks or luxury.

I might be missing more requirements. This is something to be confortable and happy but not in luxury like I don't want
a nice fancy couch or flat screen tv for example. Practical stuff only.

I guess first question is what is towing capacity of vehicle you plan to tow with?

Finally joined the ranks of broke homeowner
Am I short stroking or going to fast?

similar to what i've been kinda looking for. haven't had the cash so only kinda looking. But another thing that's been on my priority list and is harder to find apparently is fully insulated, meaning floor too. Not sure if you plan to use it in the shoulder seasons, but i want to use mine in more than just the summer.

I will be buying a truck. What kind will depend on the trailer. If I can a smaller hybrid but if I need more torque then we will have to go bigger.
That is why I like a lighter trailer not too big. I am more worried about function than "space" and luxury.

I like it to be insulated as much as possible or at least have the option for me to insulated the best I can.
There is always some level of insulation but the most we have for both heat and cold insulation, the better.
I also want the option to mount some solar panels on the roof. Having a false roof that I can tilt up and down.

Thanks. I was thinking something 1990's or newer. I like the idea of the light ones.

Why getting some stinky confined camper. Just get some quality camping gear toss it in the car and go camping

To get comparable service one will need a trailer and still have to mount dismount everything every time you decide to move even if it is 50 yards from your site.
We are not thinking backpacking but somethign that can actually sustain a familiy for a couple of months.

Those around the 3,000 lb range are not too bad for towing right?

I think you really need to find a vehicle first that way you know how much you can tow. Remember family and their stuff counts to not just the trailer.
