My one prep would be my HF Radio. Depending on issue I can get hell, have people relay information to me and I can keep up on news from others.

I can think of 1 specific instance where communication would be of the utmost importance and the top of my list though: deserted somewhere far from anything, with no other supplies I would want a sat phone fully charged
