The middle and right lanes may or may not be keeping up with the left lane depending on the exits and on-ramps. I can't recall the last time I saw someone get pulled over on the morning commute.
    I may or may not run 65-70 on 590 in the mornings, and that's usually in the range of most traffic.

    In those times, cops tend to follow the 80% rule. 80% of traffic is traveling at a safe speed. They're looking for the 20%ers (high or low).

      So had the radar detector a few days and it's pretty cool. Can't say it saves me from a ticket but has alerted me to several traps a few pull overs and some department store entrance ways. The dept stores are on auto learn so detector ignores them automatically after a few passes. What's really cool is the smart phone app (which can be used standalone without a radar detector). The app does a few things including overlaying your path on a map. It displays speed limit and how fast you're going. Also interacts with other members and will show Ka or Laser alerts well in advance of the detector picking up a signal. Sort of like social networking without the bashing lol...

        Is the app a Passport specific app? I have an older passport that doesn't have one. I use Waze for police traps and find the 2 together are pretty foolproof.

      Calculon don't know if Escort specific or not. I'm using their SmartCord Live cord for 12v dc to passport and interfaces with my phone via Bluetooth. You can use app without a detector though.

        Speaking of speeding.........

        The popo got me on 390 this morning while I was pretty much doing what I normally do poin the way to work. I wasn't moving any faster than the rest of traffic.

          I had a little chat with officer Larose of the NYSP. He gave me the ticket and I asked what the acceptable speed is during the morning commute. He said "55 mph". I said "officer, nobody out here is doing 55 mph". He responded "I pull people over if they're doing 15 or more over the speed limit".

          I didn't ask the question with any attitude, and he seemed pretty matter of fact in his response. I was pretty much keeping up with traffic this morning, and apparently today was my day.

            Is the NYSP a lawfully (NYS Constitution) authorized Body by the Sheriff ( constitutional authorized law enforcement) to do anything that has to do with Your travel ..??

            It's been many years since I successfully fought a ticket for my wife in Brighton town court. I guess it's time to head back and see how much has changed since then.

                    Off topic, but the other day you made a similar comment and it got me wondering: where and when did I agree to pay property taxes?

                    Was there a form buried in my mortgage paperwork that I signed dating I'm agreeing to pay property taxes forever? Where is the legal paperwork showing where and how the state is involved in the ownership of my house?

                    Is the bank actually the state's enforcement arm in the property tax collection game?

                      I had our lawyer give us a more detailed explanation of all the forms we were signing when we got bought our house, and I don't remember signing an agreement specifically to pay the taxes, or perhaps the significance of it didn't register with me at the time. I'm guessing it was buried as something secondary in the loan agreement.

                      Aside from it being through escrow, I'm paying taxes to the town. So it seems like there should have been some town forum I signed.....

Not only would you be able to spot wildlife and breathtaking landscapes, but you could also use them to get a clear view of upcoming road conditions, potentially avoiding hazards altogether.

                        Just a thought! Sometimes, prevention is better than detection. Plus, binoculars offer a whole new world of outdoor adventures to explore.
