I'm also questioning the safety of these large touchscreens in the middle of the dash that require you taking your eyes off the road to adjust the radio or the heat, etc.

Like I said, I've become a cranky old man.
I've noticed the same. I'm a cranky, old, pre 2015 car owner for life now. Gonna hafta get me one without a black box next. Maybe one of them 190D's norm recommended.

Cyber Monday got the best of me, lol. Ordered a Passport 9500ix. Haven’t had a radar detector or speeding ticket in 25 years but have been seeing more Leo along sides of road than I can remember. I’ve got nothing against cops in particular and am generally a 100% supporter but something about speed traps and a Revenue mentality just pisses me off lol. FUAC.

for a time I ran a Valentine 1 which was great as it would locate multiple radar beams and show the directiuon

              Oye!

I was not stepping into that debate, I was merely repeating the standard response we 2A guys give when someone says "You have to be licensed to operate a car and your car has to be registered so why shouldn't gun owners should be licensed and guns registered?".

someone texting and doing 60 mph in a 65 is way more dangerous than someone just doing 75-80 if they aren't driving like a dick to boot.

driving fast and driving dangerous are not equal imho.

Forget texting. I saw some idiot driving erratically on 390 down south of Dansville a while back. As we carefully passed him, I saw he was holding a paperback book on the steering wheel.

Run Waze on your mobile (people report police traps) at the same time and you'll be invincible!

I don't normally pay much attention to my speedometer on the morning commute to work. I usually just try to stay with traffic.

This thread got me thinking about it, so this morning I paid more attention. I'd say nobody was going less than 10 over the 55mph limit. The far left lane is generally 20 over the limit. The middle and right lanes may or may not be keeping up with the left lane depending on the exits and on-ramps. I can't recall the last time I saw someone get pulled over on the morning commute.

There's too much congestion during rush hour. By me, they just mop up the accidents and disabled cars and do enforcement outside those hours.

I'm not complaining. With the law requiring people to move over a lane for a stopped police car, pulling over a speeder during rush hour would create more of a hazard than it would solve. Unless someone is driving really erratically, or going way faster than the rest of traffic, I don't see any need for the police to do anything.
