  • Power consumption labels question

So I'm trying to figure out what circuits to wire up to transfer switch and I'm going around to the things I know I want to power. If it gives amps and bolts I multiply those for Max watts correct? Would that be start up wattage ?

so far it looks like I have enough power reserve to throw on jetted tub LMAO

Yes, wattage is amps X volts. That is your continuous wattage.

Startup wattage varies by the appliance. Plan on at least 2 to 2.5 times continuous wattage for your startup.

How many circuits does your transfer switch accommodate?
The following appliances are normally each on their own circuit.

      Fridge
Well pump (could be 35-40amp startup)
      Boiler
      Stove (if electric)
      Microwave?

        I have 6 circuits I can power, 5 if I do stove because it's 220.

I do have to finish labeling what my current circuits power as well

IMO the stove is a luxury in a short term outage. Not necessary especially using 1/3 of your total available circuits.

Well pump is likely two circuits also.

As you can see, a six circuit transfer switch isn't offering you as many options as you might have thought.

            I don't have a well pump.

So far I have furnace which will be powered, basement outlets for freezer, kitchen outlets for fridge and microwave, first floor and bathroom lights and outlets. So I still have 2 left but have to really figure out exactly what's on what.

              Does your generator supply 220?

Yes it does. I'm wiring up a reliance 6 circuit transfer panel Tuesday I believe.

                  I chose:
                  Sump Pump
                  Furnace
                  kitchen fridge
                  kitchen oulets (w/dining room light)
living room outlets (runs TV and computer)
                  bathroom lights (up and downstairs)
