Met up with a guy who was doing trail work on one of the local trails yesterday while hiking with Scouts. Turns out he is the chair of a pretty well known hiking club and is directly responsible for over 800 miles of trails in the NY/NJ area. He gave me some info about volunteer work for a trail crew and also info that I can use to help Scouts earn some cool medals/awards related to hiking. I'm interested in helping out and would like to get certified for chainsaw use on public trails. Got me thinking about prepping and maintenance on private land / trail systems as well. Any of you guys own a backpack made for transporting a chainsaw and fuel? Looked online and there are a few companies that make them as well as systems designed to support backwoods fire fighters, etc. Pretty good article here http://www.fs.fed.us/t-d/pubs/htmlpubs/htm01232334/ Any recommendations?
