Apparently a New Zealand father posted a picture of his daughter biting into the heart of a freshly killed deer that she shot.

Naturally the internet is aghast at the picture and reacting in predictable ways. I'm curious to hear what people with hunting experience think of the practice. This is not the first time I've heard of someone doing this. Supposedly a guy I went to college with would do the same thing whenever he killed a deer. To me it just seems gross and unhealthy, but I'm also not a hunter and have never shot and killed anything larger than a chipmunk.
I'm also a picky eater, so that could be part of it too. I recently read an article about a guy who found health benefits from switching to an all raw meat diet, and he ate far more than just the typical cuts of meat. I've also read multiple articles saying our over-sterilized society is actually to blame for many of our illnesses, so I recognize my concerns over the health implications of such a practice are debatable.

A proud father has shared a photograph of his eight-year-old daughter biting a deer's heart after she shot dead her first animal, sparking outrage on social media.
New Zealand father Johnny Yuile and his daughter went on a hunting trip in bushland at Makapua Station in Hawke's Bay earlier this month.
Standing up to 40 metres from her target, the little girl used her father's Remington 7mm-08 rifle to gun down the young stag.
The father - who is a police officer - shared an image of his daughter taking a bite out of the warm quivering heart - a hunting ritual to honour someone's first deer kill.
