Possible world record black bear taken by bow in Pike county PA
That is what I hate about pictures people take of their catches or kills........... They take then to make them look more impressive. Looks like they used a real wide angle lens which makes objects in foreground appear bigger then they are compared to objects in background.
I can tell because of distortion and how things look like they dip at the ends so its really hard to tell how big that bear really is from the photo.
Also looks like they took photo from low angle to hide fact that guy is probably crouching way back in room lol
www.AvidArms.com I'm STIHL out of conditioner!!
Finally joined the ranks of broke homeowner
Am I short stroking or going to fast?
Distortion or not the bear weighed in at 879 lbs and, according to article, is possibly the largest black bear ever taken in the world. Skull is thought to measure 24". What's a standard human profile on mil targets 18"? Looks about right to me. Also lines in cinder block and shelves look straight to me. Wouldn't they be curved with super wide angle lens?
As one that runs black bear with hounds for sadistic enjoyment, the picture is not to scale and people off-set at a distance behind trophy game to give the allusion that the game is larger than it actually is. With that said, an 870 pound bear in eastern PA is very real and is a special harvest! The pic is a 600 pound for reference.

I was thinking along a similar line. I've seen way too many hunting photos of game that is made to look MUCH larger than it really is with good photography skills.
Either way, 879 lbs is pretty big. Not something I would want to be alone in the woods with if I was unarmed.
Nice bear but can't imagine it would be good eating. All the big bears we taken at camp were not nearly as good as a 2-3 year old, but man, what a rug that will make along with the bragging rights that go along with it. I'm sure he'll receive some lucrative offers for that one.
