  • Went bear hunting

My two companions on Saturday afternoon/evening bear hunt. Winchester 1886 in .33 cal from 1901 and a custom knife that a blacksmith buddy on mine made for me out west. No bear but a beautiful day in the woods in a new area.
I must say I love beavers.

Nice rifle and knife. Had some nice weather lately for spending some time in the woods.

Does your friend make knives for sale?

I like your friends. Do you reload your .33 friend or are you able to find factory loads in that caliber?

My buddy doesn't make them for sale, does them as gifts. We pounder a lot of miles on foot and on our Harleys.
There is a custom knife maker in Hagman just north of Amsterdam.

Just picked up dies for the .33 to start reloading. Reform 45-70 brass to make .33 brass, the hard part is 200 gr flat nose bullets in .338 cal. Slugging the barrel is a good idea as well. I found some ammo in Maine but got a flagged message back about a scam, replied to the guy and didn't hear back.

Headed out again tonight after work, have one getting into my Mother-in-law's garbage. It's not a consistent raiding so I'm sure I'll watch the woods go to sleep again.

2 years ago with black powder, he was moving right along but not a dead run at 40 yards in a light rain. Pretty exciting being that I couldn't see for two or three minutes since the smoke hung and wasn't clearing out. Didn't know weather to reload or pull out my knife, ha ha.
50 cal TC Encore shooting 240gr Hornady JHP, only went 15-20 feet.
