  • What to do with old deer antlers

In the coming weeks (well maybe months) I'm going to be cleaning out my basement. My family has kept most of the antlers/skulls of the deer that have been harvested off the property so there's a lot of boxes with deer skulls in them. Some of them we'll definitely be keeping but a lot of them (the spike horns and 4-pointers mostly) we don't have a lot of emotional attachment to and really have no need for them.

Does anyone on here know what old deer antlers are good for? Anything practical? Is there a market for them?

Lamps and chandeliers are a couple of uses I've seen.

As suggested above, I woulda said a cool chandelier or knife handle too. You may even be able to craigslist them cause a knife making person may spend loot for them

          Their use is virtually unlimited.
Native americans make sculptures, buttons, key chains, pen sets... all sort of things.
You can make a coat hunger, handles for kitchen utensils, Even use them in jewelry/ pendants.

          I like this one... LOL...

As was suggested above you can make lamps, knife handles and other stuff already mentioned, the coolest stuff is knife handles, you would need a nice set of horns to make chandeliers you would need quite a few of them to make nice hanging light..

You can check out this link also for different ideas for your deer antlers. The toilet paper roll holder looks pretty cool..

I could probably could get away with a 52 inch shaft but if I could get a 54 inch shaft that would be great as I could always adjust the length of the shaft

My buddy took an old floor lamp and has been stacking them around the pole and is close to being done. Looks awesome and the only one I've seen. Top it off with a rustic shade and wala, instant cool factor.
If that doesn't work for you, give them to me, I've got a decent start fo my lamp but still have a ways to go.
I must say I love beavers.

Dog chews. Way better than rawhide.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm not really all that handy so I'll probably either sell or give them away when the time comes. I'll post again when I actually start getting around to it.

When my old man decided to clean the garage out he sold a bunch on ebay to a guy in china town. They grind them up for HGH and viagra type stuff.......Small antlers do make good knife handles and decorations for various projects. I just used a spike for decoration to a shelf I am building.
