80 is fast and damn fast on the water. Hell 50 is fast on the water. The new checkmate I bought is said to go mid 70's and im OK with that. I actually bought a new prop over the winter to slow it down a little and help give it better manners out of the home and cruising instead of just focusing on top speed. Its not a fishing boat though but i'll do my fare share of fishing from it. I would like to meet up with some local checkmate enthusiasts and hang out etc. I'm just a vintage speedboat fan so thats why I went with this.They can't stop us let them try. Although I've still got 1 rowboat left on Croton Falls I really prefer Fishing the LI Sound. This is a 2015 Grady 208 I picked up last summer. After 20 years it was probably time to replace my 1995 Grady 208. I'm thinking if I can get 20-25 years out of this one, and still be alive and fishing I'll be happy!Comment

Did 85 or 90 once on LG. It wasn't a fishing boat and my buddy turned his lower unit blue lol... I'd like to do 65 -70 in my boat that won't go over 55 LOL. But then again we don't need this to catch fish HA HA.Comment
