  • walleye fishing?

What is best time of year, and method to catch them? Never caught one and for some reason think now is the time.

    Thanks all!

Oh and I am in Rochester area without a boat ..... Does that mean I can't really go for them?

Have had good luck trolling lower Genesee midsummer with perch pattern stick baits between Veterans bridge and lower falls. Guess that doesn't help much, huh?
Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

    I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

Actually yes it does lol, I don't need instant gratification and situations always change, I assume you fish deep for them?

I believe that walleye is currently closed for spawning.

Season is 1st Saturday in May until March 15th. 15" limit of 5 per day.

Thanks for the info. Honestly when I go fishing I just try to catch whatever is biting lol. Couple years a go one of the guys I go on fishing trip caught a walleye and it looked like a fun catch. I scooped it up in net as line broke so he was thankful. A year or two later when I had big muskie on line he grabbed it out of water with his hands for me since it wouldn't fit in net.

Nope, the river bed makes a sharp rise just south of Veterans bridge, from 15' up to about 6' or so and gets shallow as you run past Kings island toward the falls. We just flat line, letting out enough line to get the lures bumping the rocks/gravel on the bottom (you lose a lot of gear this way). Be careful anywhere south of the island, there's some mighty big boulders hiding in that stretch of river (stick to the outside of the turns where it's a bit deeper). Chances are you'll catch more sheepshead (drum) than walleye, but walleye fight like reeling in a wet towel anyway. OTOH, a 5-10 pound sheepshead is a fun fight and it's funny to listen to them grunt at you when you land them.

I hear walleye is great eating, too. Never caught one myself, sadly.

Yea that's what I hear too. The guy I was with caught his at base on underwater hill. His pole just bent over and immediately thought he had one on the line.

I know guys fish the banks and shallows of swinging bridge around dusk. They come in to the shallows as the sun is setting to feed.

Season's closed like GooseGun said. The best time to catch them is when they're biting,HA HA! Seriously though, a lot depends on where you fish. Some waters are good walleye fishing any time of the year, Onieda lake for instance. Personally, I like to fish for them when the waters cold, Oct - ice in and late ice before the season closes. I think the meat tastes better when they come from cold water, but I don't throw too many back if I catch them in the summer, They taste too damn good! Volumes have been written on how to catch them but what works where I fish may not be a good technique where you fish. Talk to the fishermen at the local tackle shop, just remember to wear your bullPeshitta filter and to set it on fine.
                      They took our jobs!!
