  • Slow cooked BBQ ribs

Trying something simple today. Threw a rack of ribs, 1 cup of ketchup, 1/2 cup of honey and package of McCormick Slow Cooked Southern Ribs seasoning in the crock pot and set for 8 hrs.

Best part about it was I got to use the cleaver today!!!

i have the same crockpot. Nice cutlery. Throw in some hard cider as well- goes well with ribs. I have cooked ribs in the oven at 225 for about 2-3 hours- they come out nice and tender. Put a dry rub on it and bake in beer or hard cider.

Thanks. I like the cidar suggestion but don't have any. I could throw some sliced apples in it, hmm...

Yeah, I've had that cleaver for at least 8 years but this is the first time I've used it, ha, ha. My kitchen knifes are the same line (Henckels Pro S) and use them a lot! Good stuff.

MMMMM.....ribs. One of my favorites for sure. There's no substitute for fall of the bone baby backs.

I usually smoke them. 3 hours on the smoker around 225, then 2 hours wrapped super tight in foil with some apple juice poured in to steam, and then back on the smoker for 1 more hour, gently brushing from barbecue sauce on about every 10 minutes.

They've been in for a little over 4 1/2 hours and have pulled back about 3/4" off the bone. Cooking too fast? I just threw in a cup of apple juice to slow things down a bit.

They might be close to done. I would give it a taste- or set to warm.

Just had some Dinosaur ribs yesterday for lunch. This thread is making me hungry.

I don't think they're done but are definitely pulling back from bone. They're at 140 deg now.

Invitations are like badges and ...

You don't need no stinking badges, right?

This makes me cry a little. Ribs should be smoked.

Sometimes you have a craving for ribs....... and don't have the spare time and a smoker.
