I was doing some reading on cast iron, and you CAN clean them with soap and water, but dry them fully, and give them a coat of oil when you're done. The more seasoned the are, the easier they are to clean.

I wouldn't use soap personally because its likely to take away from your seasoning which is not what you want. Also IMO don't waste your time seasoning with flaxseed oil.

For cast iron info I recommend going to the people who's collectiomd rival the gun collections of some of our members! http://www.griswoldandwagner.com

I've heard that about cast iron as well, but I've also read that with a good seasoning, it won't hurt it. So basically do what you want lol

A good seasoning takes years of constant use and at that point nothing will really stick either so soap isn't even really needed.

None of mine have what I would consider a good seasoning yet. I love cast iron though! My grandma has given me a couple pieces too.
