While we're on the topic of blades...

My son has been on a Wolverine kick lately. He made some claws out of cardboard, tinfoil and some straws that turned out pretty good. He's been bugging us to buy a set of metal claws which the wife and I aren't too keen about, LOL.

So, been thinking about stepping up the cardboard and foil approach a little bit while still keeping things "safe"...

Figured I could cut some basic shapes out of some thin wood, create a mold and then make them out of bondo... Any suggestions on making a mold? Maybe plaster of paris? How do you get the bondo to release from it?

Shortening maybe? I was always a big fan of wolverine. I saw a custom car shop make custom trim pieces using fiberglass. Basically make a mold- then they used fiberglass sheets with epoxy. Then when it comes out of the mold- they sand/prep and paint.- though fiberglass is probably overthinking it. Another idea would be making it out of high density foam.

Yeah, pretty much what I had in mind. The Bondo that I'm referring to has fiber glass strands in it otherwise it would probably just snap. I just looked it up and somebody made a mold using a piece of wax shaped like the part and then poured into plaster. After the plaster dries you put it in the microwave and "melt" out the wax. Then fill it with bondo and let it harden. The plaster just breaks off the bondo after it sets.

Still more effort than I want to get into. I'm now thinking petroleum jelly as a release agent...

Go to the local craft store and get some mold release agent.

Beer is like porn, you can buy it but it's more fun to make your own

I have to bend over too far

        I get a boner.

bareback every couple of days, GTG. Bareback, brokeback, same $hit!

I joined a support group to help me deal with my social anxiety but I just can't seem to work up the nerve to go to a meeting......

I'm pretty sure even the bondo with fiberglass strands will be likely to snap without a sturdy core or some full length glass tape.

So went for fast and cheap...

Cut some blanks out of cardboard

Wax paper in between, electrical tape on the edges and packing tape on the top.

Not bad for a first pass

              Sanding and paint tomorrow...
