I'll play with mine too and try and replicate. Normally safety dosnt move much but I remember it moving a lot more forward when it fired.

LOL ... from what I can tell, the only way it would be possible for it to do so would be to achieve a draw back that wasn't 100% all the way back which didn't set the safety all the way over the trigger mechanism. This is a very basic safety/trigger assembly. I've been trying all day and did get close to it doing it, but I can't get it to replicate what his did. I'd have to write this up as some people have indeed got the string to barely make it over the catch. In other words, operator fault and not the xbow. I'm really trying to duplicate this. LOL I want to see what has to happen for it to occur. I don't think he's had it do it since have you usmc? I'm glad he brought this up and that others found reviews where others have done it. This isn't a sophisticated weapon. It is a weapon that is more of a novelty than a true weapon but it is dangerous since it's certainly not a toy. 80lbs of pull isn't anything to take lightly since the highest draw weight compound bow I have is 74lbs. I think POP should buy one. I think Thughes ordered one. That'll be 4 we'll have here to test the hell out of .... and have a ton of fun doing so. I FOUND IT!!!!!!
What usmc and others who had the crossbow go off while pushing the safety forward experienced, is NOT a design flaw. It is what we see in the shop with most crossbow issues ..... operator error. LOL I got it to go off while pushing the safety forward by SLOWLY cocking it and getting the string to BARELY catch at the rear of the rail. I also got the safety to travel further forward by NOT placing the bolt fully rearward. This also explains why he hasn't been able to duplicate it. It falls in the archery category as "Peshitta happens" because it's not really a true operator error, as in stupidity, and it's not an issue with the xbow. It's just something that occurred when the string wasn't pulled fully rearward which, when you consider that most consumers of crossbows really don't know much about them nor know what to really look for in some instances, is bound to happen with a simple design like this. You're welcome!! LOL At least this was a challenging "Why did it do this?" episode!! LMFAO Normally, it's against my better judgement to purposely cock/load ANY xbow not fully rearward or use an incorrect bolt or bolt placement because of the devastation that usually occurs. I was expecting a complete explosion of the limb and a shattered bolt and broken string by doing this false load with the bolt. Luckily, this design seems to lower the chances of such an occurrence should a bolt not be loaded properly. I won't go to 1/2" away with the bolt, but from what I can see, this is a pretty safe little xbow if the operator is mindful of such possibilities. The bolts are also a big part of this design BUT this is also a recurve xbow so the amount of force isn't enhanced with the use of cams like a compound would be.
