    2015/2016 NY Archery Season



    Now .... looking at this you'd think "Hey ... hunting season is damn near here and I can't wait to get in the woods and hopefully get that nice 10pt buck I have on camera!!" ..... except if you live in the western part of the state that is. This appears to me to be something new. Antlerless ONLY areas for the first two weeks of bow season!!!

    And here is the bear archery season ...




    Good luck this year all!! For those not familiar with bow hunting, the bow can be used in any season that you hold a tag for providing you have passed the bowhunters safety course.

    Much quieter too! Between rebuilt shoulders and moderate to severe Arthritis my days with a conventional compound are done Real close to a cross bow as I really miss it and the lovey state of NY wont recognize disability's unless your prctically a quadrapaligic.

        Well ... luckily for MS and you, the crossbow is legal in NYS!! It now has it's own season as well which would allow you to have an extended season. They can be used in the regular season as well. I've had many ask me when the crossbow safety class is nad my answer is: There is none. You merely go to http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/xbowcert.pdf and print it, fill it out and keep it with your license. (back tag) It's that simple. Should one choose to hunt with a crossbow, they can start hunting in the Northern zone as early as October 14th. One other thing to mention for those around the Saratoga/Washington counties, route 29 is the dividing line between northern and southern zone.

          It's funny how NYS always drags its feet on approving anything positive, but certainly can take Peshitta away overnight. After living out west and the midwest and seeing what real deer management (QDM) does it jus baffles me that between hunters and the state cannot come to terms with management over quotas and calling it management. As far as the ADK Park, it's needed there the most but youll never get past the nay sayers and tree huggers to do whats best for both the forest and the wild life

              This is a mighty great informative thread CS. I'm not a hunter of any kind...(well almost any kind) and I enjoyed learning the knowledge of the areas and dates
